  1. Sorry just trying to think outside of the box to deal with Hernandez's absence. While I do think Gurriel, Chapman and Kirk will contribute offensively, they all appear to be cold as ice right now. I believe all are hitting below .200. Just saying...
  2. Kirk, Gurriel and Chapman have not looked good and frankly do not see any of them filling in that #4 spot and doing damage. Thus, I thought maybe instead of trying to fill that spot with someone who has not hit....move someone who has....Springer. And you go about try and find someone who could get on base to leadoff. Espinal seemed to be the only close to fitting the bill. I may be in a minority but I do think that you need a real threat behind Vladdy in the lineup.
  3. Really? Who is batting cleanup?
  4. He has done very little to warrant batting cleanup. I think it is easier to replace the leadoff position and move Springer to clean up. If you move Chapman to 4th....I see walks in Vladdy's immediate future. I think you need a threat batting behind Vladdy.
  5. If Hernandez is going to miss an extended period of time I think it might be a good idea to change the top of the lineup. 1. Espinal 2. Bo 3. Vlad 4. Springer This way you have Springer behind Vlad to help protect him. Plus Springer has been hitting and he may increase his RBI total if in the fourth spot. Espinal hit for average last year and did a pretty good job getting on base....think moving him up might actually be good for him. What better way to show a player you value the work they have put in over the offseason to improve...than moving him up to the lead off. Who knows, it may unlock something in Espy. Plus Espy and Bo have speed and speed is always good to have at the top of the lineup and well, on the bases for when the big boys come up.
  6. Vladdy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. So who is gonna step on Vladdy's hand at the beginning of every game?
  8. Agree but would add Gurriel to that list. BOTH need to step up and become more of a factor offensively while Hernandez heals.
  9. Buck is the very definition of annoying. Tabler is the cure for insomnia.
  10. Is it just me or are all of the new bench guys looking like poo.
  11. So are you stating that the Club could bring up Moreno in a week and not lose that year of control? IF so, then YES, bring him up in a week. Jays are REALLY weak at catcher and they have the means of improving it, then damn it, do it. Many made arguments last year that Manoah was not ready. Well, that worked out. From everything I have read, Moreno looks to be ready to continue to polish his game and it might actually help if it were against better competition.
  12. Is it silly to suggest that maybe they should bring up someone and give him some at bats in the majors? Martinez was looking pretty good during training camp. I know you want these young guys playing every day and gaining more experience with the opportunity to work on stuff. But damn, why not bring one up for a couple of weeks and give them some at bats instead of having a bum like Collins DH.
  13. Romano has pitched in three of four games and should sit tonight. Jays should be careful not to overuse him. I think if it is another close game, Montoyo should use Garcia as the closer and Mayza as the setup man. Mix in some Merryweather and Phelps for the 6th and 7th if need be. If it is a laugher either way…just use Stripling, Kay and Thornton to eat up the innings. Montoyo HAS to be prudent using his arms. The schedule is a killer and Montoyo cannot have his same mindset of let’s just play for today and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. NO, the schedule will f*** you up with this approach. He must be smart and make decisions that make sense both short and long term if they are going to survive playing 30 games in 31 days.
  14. Yep, the more you watch...the more you see, the more it is apparent that Espy should be the everyday second baseman.
  15. I would like to see the report card on this ump this afternoon. That game became almost unwatchable given his impact on the game.
  16. In a universe that makes sense, Espy should be batting right behind Gurriel. By all accounts, he has proven that he is seeing the ball well right now, and well the others down in the lineup, including Chapman have not. Espy has had two clutch doubles with I believe two outs, why not bat him in a place where he has more of a chance to contribute. Batting him behind Chapman AND Tapia is just silly.
  17. Yes, it makes no sense to me. I thought the reason they traded for Collins was because they could easily send him down to the minors. IF they were going to keep three catchers why not just keep McGuire. Keeping three catchers makes no sense at all. Collins was an astute move made by the organization because they could send him down to the minors and he was there as an insurance policy incase of injury...while allowing the team to keep further depth at other positions. This move keeping Collins up....is a real head scratcher.
