  1. Good point. I have no problems with him on the roster, but I assumed he'd be used in mop-up duty or in a spot-start roll. I never imagined he'd be in high leverage, close-game, late inning situations. I was happy when he did well! but I just don't think he has the swing and miss stuff to really be effective in that roll.
  2. Well, Happ s*** the bed...Can't really be too surprised though, the guys been pitching way over his head. He's gonna have a few of these meltdowns from time to time, he had his share last year with Seattle. Disappointing that the offense was so over matched by Fulmer though. Sure, he's a good young arm but our "hyped" offense should have been better than that On the bright side!: our emerging young stud is facing former Jays farm-hand shitballer Matt Boyd tomorrow! I pretty much see this as a sure thing victory for the good guys:cool:
  3. It's Gavin Floyd...Mediocre starting pitcher who's battled some tough injuries and is trying to make a comeback. Were we really expecting him to be a force in the bullpen? Never did understand the hype with him on the roster.
  4. I agree... If you read through it it looks pretty sustainable. Health really becomes the factor that we have to be concerned about. Cecil's a must have in the pen and any injuries to him affects are depth extremely. Pretty much I see the AL east as a 3 person race... Boston... Orioles or Yankees, Jays. I have a hard time believing that the Yankees have the offense to really make a playoff push but their bullpens just too elite.. And the Orioles their rotation is garbage but their pen and offense is incredible... Rays are dog-s***. I think the past 2 years would have been our best chance to re-load and take the division by storm and give our team another championship but they botched it and it's a missed opportunity. I kinda worry that we missed our window, but we should at least be competitive. GO JAYS
  5. Floyd looks impressive under small sample sizes but he really doesn't have the kind of talent that's needed to be a late inning reliever. I don't even see a lot of movement in his high velocity pitches and he's basically a one trick pony. I like him a lot more in a spot-starter role or in mop-up duty.
  6. Oh my god. Are you guys for real? Stroman getting sent down??? Stromans a perfectly valuable starter in the 3/4 role. Is he the ace that Rogers hyped him to be? No... But he's a useful young arm that should be able to give us competitive innings. The kids still learning for crying out loud. If we really want to put our faith in a lights out starter then Aaron Sanchez is our man.. Way more natural talent than the Stroshow... Dickey/Happ provide the 2/3 spot and Stroshow/Estrada fill out the back of the rotation.
  7. Yeah, Grilli was a little better over the 9 innings he pitched than Storen was in his 9 innings
  8. I'm shocked to see so many people rank Grilli in the middle of the pack. I've watched him with Atlanta and he's not the same pitcher he was a few years back with Pittsburgh. He's an extreme fly-ball pitcher with waning velocity. Terrible fit for the AL East I'm afraid.
  9. 1. Osuna 2. Cecil 3. Chavez 4. Biagini 5. Storen 6. Loup 7. Floyd 8. Grilli
  10. Absolutely. Gibby being Gibby. We got a little lucky with that outcome. Let's see what this guy can give us before putting him in high leverage situations. We can't afford to be throwing games away late in the game at this point in the season.
  11. I'm not saying he's toxic, I just think that Atlanta realized that he was outta gas and that they'd be lucky to get anything for him and if they wait much longer might not be able to. But you have a point, hopefully he can act as a mentor to some of the younger guys while he's here.
  12. The kids always had nasty stuff. The only problem he had was harnessing his ability. To me he's turned a corner and in my eyes is the best starter on the team.
  13. I'm all for improving the pen as it needs a boost, but Jason Grilli is not the answer. Why even bother? It reminds me of when AA would bring in guys who were clearly done like Ramon Ortiz just hoping to squeeze a little water from a stone.
  14. He was fine? Guys 39 now after coming back from a major injury. His numbers in that pitcher friendly Atlanta park are garbage. The Braves couldn't wait to cut bait with him. Don't you think if they figured he'd bounce back that they would have waited a month or 2 to net a useful return for their rebuild without having to eat any salary? My guess is they know he's done and just wanna prevent any future headaches with the guy.
  15. Grilli's done. I see this as being a waste of a roster spot... Why even bother? The guys gonna be easy pickings in these AL East bandboxes.
  16. Sorry to come across as negative. I do applaud your consistent optimism but I do think this team has some big fundamental problems. I still expect the offense to heat up, but I don't think it's gonna be as deadly without the supporting cast rolling on all cylinders like it was last season. There's gonna be no magical Colabello season, not really expecting Pillar to repeat with his bat and I'm not convinced that Smoaks bat is potent enough to play at first. Martin and Tulo really need to get their s*** together.
  17. Not even into June yet and they're already 7 behind a Boston club that isn't slowing down and currently 6.5 behind the O's. You fall much further back and the percentages to make the playoffs start getting dicey and unlikely.
  18. There's definitely gonna be some lean years in the near distant future. I was really hoping this season would be another fun, competitive one but they've already dug themselves a pretty big hole and things aren't looking up at all.
  19. I would be absolutely thrilled at 8-4. I don't see it happening though. I'm predicting 5-7. Breaking even or going 7-5 would be great, but I don't see them doing any better than that.
  20. Gibby started off the year making a handful of questionable decisions, but I think he's been better lately. I don't like that he's always storming the field and reaming out umpires though. I know in his mind he's just "sticking up for his boys", but the Jays already have a horrible reputation around the league for being cry-baby whiners and Gibbons throwing fits every other day doesn't really help the narrative. A little fire here and there is good but he has to pick and choose his battles. I guess it's kind of ironic in a sense that they likely don't get the borderline calls in their favor because of the whining and yet the players just keep on escalating the situation. All and all though I haven't seen too many awful calls go against the Jays. I was watching the end of the Orioles/Angels game Saturday night and in the bottom of the 9th the ump called 2 strikes nearly in the dirt to punch out Yunel and he lost his s***... They were 2 of the worst pitch calls I've seen in any game this season and Scoscia went out to support Yunel and gave the ump his piece of mind but did it in a respectable manner. 2 batters later Trout got another call nearly in the dirt called a strike against him and Trout was shocked, but still didn't lose his s***. I had visions of the ump having plans for a "hot date" after the game fearing that the Angels may tie it up. I know a lot of you guys are big into the advanced graphs and stats so if one of you guys knows where to find a pitch chart of that final half inning I guarantee it'll be worth a good laugh. Point is not every borderline call is worth rioting over. Scoscia and the Angels would have had every reason to go nuts and they still took the high-road... Just a little perspective compared to the Jays hot-headed temperament.
  21. Let's just hope the rotation continues to roll like it has eh fellas? I'm honestly pretty dumbfounded by how bad the offense has performed. Now I know Zauns a sensationalist and can be a little "out there", but he has this theory that since the Jays are now the big bats in the league that the scouting on the offense has improved and that the pitchers are really zoning in and pitching them tougher than ever before. Is the offensive drought simply a result of the pitchers exploiting their weaknesses and the batters not being astute enough to adjust?
  22. Yikes... That honestly scares me. I'm not sold on the Yankees offense, but their bullpen is so lethal that they can eek out games in an annoying fashion.
  23. BBBB Is a guy? Hmm, for some reason ever since I've read the forum I was certain it was a female.... Strange.
  24. I don't understand why this is worth mentioning? Who cares what someones wife tweets. Have you guys ever seen some of the stuff that the wives of players tweet? Mind numbing.
