  1. How much do you think the clean sweep of the front office had to do with the morale of the team going into the season? After all from what I've read they pretty much insulted Bautista and Encarnacion with their contract offers... Not good to have the 2 start players feeling slighted. I'd think there would have had to be a feeling after the additions made last year of "wow AA really has our backs". Having a new front office coming in and doing things their way could turn a lot of players off and ruin some of the morale.
  2. I'm not sure why everyone brings this up all of the time? Of course every hit isn't going to be ripped for a line drive or a dinger, a large percentage are gonna be ground balls through the hole and duck snorts. It goes with the territory. It's why being able to strike batters out is so important. I'm not sure of the numbers, but it doesn't seem like Stroman often has guys striking out swinging.
  3. I believe they're the lowest scoring team in the league. Well maybe not after these 2 beat downs.
  4. On the bright side, Ubaldo Jiminez matched the awfulness of Stroman and has his club down 7.
  5. Stroman servin' up batting practice... Gotta get him the hell out there.
  6. Nothing nicer than a smile on a young mans fans face while enjoying a game at the ballpark
  7. I really thought they'd bounce back with a great game tonight.
  8. I'm inclined to believe that AA would have made changes to build upon the success of last season. Shapiro has a vastly different vision so he comes over here and without a horse in the race so he just settles for the status-quo.
  9. I'm on the boat that keeps Sanchez in the rotation. The kids taken a leap forward this year and looks like he can be a big part of the rotation going forward. The kid has great ability. Maybe Hutch could be transitioned into a relief role. Worth giving it a shot and he'd probably prefer that over being in AAA.
  10. Anyone else missing AA already?
  11. This is just f***ing ugly. Tim Beckham... Really?
  12. This sucks man... Happ being Happ again
  13. At least Smyly's pitch counts already at 30. The Tampa pen isn't very good. We just need Happ to hold the score where it is.
  14. It came up aces for the Rangers though. Looks a lot more respectful when you do it when you're winning and not blown out and butt-hurt or whatever.
  15. Yeah, the timing of the whole thing was really suspect. Especially when he's leading off the inning in a 1 run game in the 8th. Perhaps they were dead-set for whatever reason to do it during what would be his last-at bat of the season against them... You know, just do it then and be done with it and know that it's not gonna be a distraction riling about the next time you play the Jays.
  16. Going into the season I was quite comfortable with it. Though the price to pay for Storen was incredibly steep and more than I would have paid, I thought he really solidified the back-end of the pen. Having Cecil and Storen struggling really flips the whole situation on it's head. I'm all for having Sanchez in the rotation, but losing him in the bullpen created a big hole. Not to mention losing Lowe hurts a lot, a guy like him still in the pen would have stabilized things tremendously. So what do you guys make of it? I'm pretty nervous and skeptical at this point to tell you the truth. I mean even a guy like Girordo has looked good, but can we really rely on him going forward? Who the hell knows. I guess I'm a little disappointed that the team didn't really double down and build upon what they achieved last year... Why not go in and really beef up the bullpen during the off-season? Perhaps I'm just bummed out about how the seasons going and it sucks to see the Jays losing big ground so early. I kind of wish we were able to see how AA would have built upon last year but who knows if he even would have went all in last year if he knew he was wasn't leaving.
  17. No s***? what for? how longs he out for? Surprised I missed that.
  18. The unwritten rules of baseball are so far ingrained in the game that there was no way Bautista wasn't going to get plunked at some point this season against the Rangers. I think a lot of people here are down-playing the whole bat-flip thing to: It wasn't like he just flipped his bat out of excitement, the bat-flip was a total F-U to the Rangers and done what I think was mocking manner. Bautista's a fiery guy and he gets angry, and when he's angry- watch out, but if you show up a team like that you're gonna get drilled.
  19. Entertaining game but what's kind of lost in this is what a horrible loss that was. The Jays had every chance to blow that game open with Texas pretty much begging them to do it with their sloppy play and the Jays just can't execute situational hitting. I also don't like Chavez being used in late game, high leverage bullpen spots. Is Cecil out of commission right now or something?
  20. The Jays really gotta get things turned around. The division was a lot weaker last year. Being 5 1/2 games back a month and a half into the season is a pretty big hole.
  21. Big inning here, all the big guns coming up here who could end it with one swing of the bat.
  22. Let's go Jays, let's get er done here so we can go to Osuna!
  23. Holy hell! Can't believe the Jays tied it! This is a game they desperately need...Would be a huge momentous win
