    I wish him all the best. If I were him I would go to Houston for a number of reasons, 5/115.. not a chance I would turn that down. What's the over/under on the number of dingers he hits into the Crawford Boxes?

    If I were him, Id go to an AL team and pitch every 5 days + DH 2 days at the beginning to see how it goes. He will never be a productive hitter in the NL where he will get 3 ABs every 5 days

    I agree. If he stays healthy I think we get fair value from him. No way you try and unload him, eat some money and have Navarro as an everyday catcher. Navarro isnt much better than Thole. Martin is a much better catcher in every metric, not to mention little things that are hard to quantify, such as his game calling, baseball IQ and ability to maximize a pitchers potential ie Liriano. In 2016 he was a League average bat and put up 1.9 WAR despite being injured or banged up for the majority of the season. Hopefully he will stay healthy. Either way if Navarro is our everyday catcher, forget about making the playoffs. His poor framing is worth something like minus 1.5-2 wins per season

    Im a fan of both Baseball and Hockey. A large portion of the population considers Baseball a snooze fest.... As far as Sports fans IQ, MMA and Basketball are probably lower..

    Might not have much choice playing Zeke alot. How feasible is it that Rogers ponys up the money to get 2 above average corner OFs when we still need a couple of bullpen pieces, a backup catcher, a DH/1B. If we can get 2 WAR from Zeke/Pompey/Upton for minimal $ and spend money elsewhere that might not be the worst thing. We are not going to have above average run producers at every position unfortunately.

    Jansen is going to get what? 5/80? We are paying Osuna 500K. With the contract Eaton has it would take a huge haul for them to make the trade imo. If the FO believes that Osuna is likely to have a career ending injury or significant injury problems, sure unload him. Maybe Im just thinking with my heart as Osuna is one of my favorite players. We need a 1B/DH, a corner OF who pref hits from the left side and 2 bullpen arms. Id like to see Happ and Upton possibly used as trade pieces, have Biagini be the 5th starter. Platoon Zeke and Pompey at one of the corners.

    They we don't do the trade then. Our bullpen is thin enough already. Giving up a top tier young closer who is under team control and making no money for several years is dumb. Might as well sign Cespedes, keep our prospects and Osuna rather than having to pay Eaton, lose prospects and pay several million to sign someone comparable for our bullpen

    Yep, I want him starting and hopefully he will pitch like he did for us the last 2 months or so of the season. I think he provides much better value as a starter.

    You forget how dominate he was 2nd half of 2015. Or his 6 post season innings of 1 hit, no run ball

    That's the way it used to be but not anymore. An algorithm calculates it based on a number of variables, probably distance, time in air, velo, launch angle etc.

    If Justin Smoak is playing everyday forget about playoff baseball next season. I still have a glimmer of hope we are going to re-sign Edwin and platoon him at 1B and DH with Morales. Morales is making 11 mill, Jose might have cost us 17 per on a multi year deal, maybe they will use the $6 mill saved towards Edwin. I dont know if they will resign Donaldson, he will probably command $$ and term that the FO wont go for.

    Because the FO probably won't want to invest 40 mill a season on 3 DH/1Bs

    They will likely crank it up if they know what's good for them and the franchise. Why risk regressing back to mediocrity when you have another shot at this window, all because your too cheap to put another $30 million on the payroll? The franchise value has jumped $200 mill. Rogers operating revenue for the 2nd quarter 2016 was $3455 million. The Blue Jays are a massive draw across this whole country. Attendance, TV ratings and merchandise sales are through the roof. I have a ton of confidence that with a $170 mil payroll we will be back in the playoffs next season.

    Edwin had no spring training. Either way if Rogers plans to cheap out, don't expect to make the playoffs this year. We got great value out of those 2, now it's time to up the payroll. No reason why we don't have a 170 mill payroll on opening day.

    The eye test says Jose wasn't able to catch up to pitches that he would have taken out of the park last year. It also says he was a poor defender and a liability in the field. EE played 1B very well. I hope I'm wrong, we sign both and they both perform well. EE is going to get paid much more, which shouldn't be the case if Jose really is expected to put up more WAR, both in 2017 and beyond. I would sign Jose 3/50 and Edwin a slightly back loaded 4/90, have them both platoon 1B and DH and figure out a way to get rid of Smoak

    In the end EE put up 3.9 while Jose put up 1.4. I would be suprised if Jose puts up more WAR than EE next year... regardless of what the projections say.

    2 at 10 per or 2 x 20? No chance the latter is reasonable.
