  1. At this point with the market and draft pick attached I wonder if he would accept 3/45 with an opt out.
  2. He gambled last season by not signing an extension. It wouldnt suprise me if a 5/100 was on the table one year ago. By agreeing to a one year deal he is taking a massive risk of having an average or worse season. The free agent class in the next couple of years are better, likely leading to less money for him. If I was him Id take 3/45 before Id take 1/17, maybe even 1/20.
  3. The only way they could sign EE now is if Steve Pearce plays significant time in an OF corner and Morales can play significant time at 1B. This combined with EE having to play primarily at 1B could actually be worse than just signing Fowler. The former are worse defenders at those positions and all three are more likely to get injured. If Rogers is willing to pony up the cash and get both EE and Fowler (slim to none chance) that would be unreal. A nice medium might be to take a chance on Jose playing mostly in the outfield. His market is garbage right now, 3/45 if his ego has been squashed.
  4. 17+6.25 = 23.25 EE likely would have accepted 4/90 at minimum = 22.5
  5. To be fair Ive just read this before, probably on fangraphs. Either way, Fowler is an upgrade defensively on Saunders and Jose. Interestingly enough Steamer projects Jose to be worth more WAR next season. Significantly better offensively and moderately worse on defense (than Fowler)
  6. If he is a slightly below average defender in CF now, he would project to be average to above average at a corner. Having Pillar beside him might help too.
  7. We dont need a 3rd baseman. Fowler is younger, got on base more last season is a lefty and will likely cost less.
  8. Steve Pearce has averaged 2.4 WAR in 335 PA the past 3 seasons, can play multiple positions at a cost of 6.25 mill. Yeah worst signing ever for sure
  9. If thats the case then they arent too far apart. Though it wouldnt suprise me if Fowler is using the Jays to leverage his position with a couple of teams that he truly wants to go to.
  10. All good things must come to an end unfortunately. Do you really want to pay EE 5/110 and Jose 5/100? (thats likely what they want). The FO doesnt want to commit to long term deals for aging players.
  11. The FO did nothing wrong imo. They gave him a fair contract and a timeline. Him and his agent gambled but ended up misjudging both the changing market and our FO willingness to move on and sign someone else quickly. His agent can go take a hike. To think that if EE signed for 80mill the agent would be taking ~3.2mill is a joke. Worse than lawyers.
  12. EE makes no sense for the team now. 4/80 is really pushing it for Fowler.
  13. He is a Red Sox fan iirc.
  14. lol I was just reading them. One guy talking about Salary Cap space and a woman ranting "absolute shame that fans who keep this club in business have no say or influence".
  15. He wont put up 5 wins. The point is its a short term deal for almost no money for a guy that can play multiple positions with an above average bat. If he puts up 4 wins over two seasons its great value. It allows the FO to spend money in the other areas we need help at.
  16. Like this signing. Looks like the Edwin ship has set sail.
  17. Hey, I might be interested in picking up some tickets from you next season. PM me your contact info thank you
  18. At 25-50K it might be a tough sell, the Cubs are a bigger market and Rogers center isnt Wrigley field.
  19. Any idea as to the cost and viability of building a man-made island or extending the area south of the CN tower outward into the lake? Say 1000x1000 feet.. I would like to see a stadium with a retractable roof, possibly taking elements from ballparks such as Camden, AT&T, Minute Made, PNC etc. Maybe wait another 5-10 years. I think it would be a stupid idea to sink $400 mill into the Rogers center.
  20. If you were the FO how much salary would you want the reds to eat and what would it take to acquire Votto and Hamilton? Votto is owed 192 mill over 8 years. Crazy to think anyone could get that deal until age 41.
  21. Just taking a quick look at his heat maps from 2015 to 2016. Looks like a difference on cstrike% on fastballs on both inside corners, particularly the lower inside. Seems like he was taking much more fastballs there for called strikes this past season.
  22. Possibly the fact that the incentive to wait until free agency and acquire a first round pick is now gone.
  23. JD could be looking at 6/175, I don't think the FO is going to resign him anyway. As much as I hate to say it, I think trading him sooner than later might be the best thing to do.
  24. They are going to be fun to watch. WS contender if they get a little more pitching help.
