    Lukes hasn't really even had a chance to hit in the majors yet so it's a little up in the air what he will able to do. He produced a 151 WRC+ in AAA so far and had a nice spring as well so he might be able to surprise a little bit.

    It's good you've come to your senses but that doesn't change the fact your earlier opinion of Pop was completely undeserved. At worst he's a power sinker version of David Phelps as a guy who keeps you close in games in low leverage spots. Since he was acquired he has shown glimpses of the raw tools that could allow a much higher ceiling if he comes up with a more effective slider.

    Wait I could swear I remember you saying that Pop was 100% useless something like a week ago. Now he's arguably the team's best relieve a week later. Holy s*** you certainly change your tune in a hurry.

    He definitely deserves to be up on the big league squad sooner. rather than later. Unfortunately it's likely going to take an injury to one of the relievers due to the lack of remaining options for most of the relief core.

    Ah so you want the team to jettison Bass from the roster because of his facial expression and because he said something on Twitter you didn't like. That completely checks out based on past posts.

    Exactly as I just stated. If the club is going to continue to roster all three of Espinal, Merrifield and Biggio they may as well keep cycling each of them through the lineup until one of them gets hot and earns the position. Last season Espinal was key contributor early on and subsequently received the most playing time at second base. After he started to struggle later in the season his playing time was cut accordingly. Hopefully one of the three eventually starts contributing more with the bat and makes the primary starter an easy decision. Further to that Javier's splits are far worse vs lefties compared to righties for his career so opting to play the left handed bat isn't a terrible decision by any means. And it's not like Merrifield is the type of hitter at this stage of his career as he was earlier on so treating him as the part time player he performs like is not some sort of great offence.

    None of the Jays second basemen have done much of anything with the bat yet so it's perfectly defensible to rotate them through the lineup until one of them seizes the job.

    Holy overreaction man. Bass has struggled to start the season but this looks to largely be the result of poor fastball location. If he irons out his command he should return to being an effective reliever.

    When I read comments about a player's eating habits, comparing him to late stage CC Sabathia, stating that he needs an IL trip to diet and do cardio I can't help but think they are saying that this player is too fat to pitch effectively. I honestly don't know how you could think anything else. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

    Those are perfectly fair points, but I don't buy that this is the primary reason his stuff and command are both faltering this season. In the games where his velocity and stuff are down it's apparent right from the first pitch before a lack of conditioning/pitch clock would start to factor in. It would be an interesting exercise to go back and watch video of him between pitches last season to see if he was also out of breath a good chunk of the time there as well.

    If you go back and check out photos of Manoah from his draft year you can tell he's in far better condition than he used to be.

    I'd like for you to point out where I said Manoah doesn't have room to potentially improve his physical conditioning. I'm just not the type to immediately start fat shaming a professional athlete as soon as he starts to struggle a little bit. Manoah really doesn't look all that different to me compared to last season, and he garnered serious Cy Young consideration last season with a very similar frame to the one he's featuring at the moment. If you want to think that his physique is the primary reason why he suddenly can't locate his pitches and his stuff has dropped across the board then you can go ahead and do so.

    Ah I hadn't read the article in question. After reading it I'm not sure what to think, I honestly have no idea who is ultimately responsible for cleaning up messes on an airplane when a kid spills some food on the floor. It seems a little odd to me to expect a paying customer to clean their own mess up but I'm really not up to speed on how airlines typically handle this.

    Everything I've seen of Manoah suggests he's a great teammate. He has his teammates backs on social media, is always one of the first guys to congratulate his teammates on a good play on the field, he is always available to cheer on his teammates during the game even when he's starting that day etc. etc. etc.

    Wow it certainly didn't take long for the knives to come out for Manoah. Dude explodes onto the scene and posts some of the all time best early career numbers as a Jay for 50+ starts, and as soon as he struggles for a handful of starts he's public enemy number 1. Too fat to pitch, too busy stuffing his face to train, fake tough guy who should just shut the f*** up, acts like a clown etc. I could see this level of derision if he pitched for the Red Sox or Yankees but it's a little surprising to see this level of hate for a guy who pitches for the Jays, appears to be a model teammate etc.

    I don't think changing his catcher is going to have much of an effect. Manoah looks a lot like last year's version of Kikuchi where he had a really hard time commanding his pitches. He would badly miss the strike zone constantly falling behind in the count and piling up the walks, and then when he managed to find the strike zone he would groove his pitches right down the middle of the plate.
