  1. It sounds like the team was willing to spend the necessary money for Semien but he simply chose the Rangers offer for reasons beyond the team's control.
  2. That's the thing, Gurriel just produced his best ever full season WAR at a whopping total of 2.1. He's a complimentary player at best.
  3. Back to baseball related discussions. Who pitches more combined innings over the next 5 seasons, Ohtani or Glasnow?
  4. By my count it was more like 18. I can't decide if that is better or worse than grammar check police and arguing about some jerkwad that got himself banished from MLB.
  5. We could use some Blue Jays additions soon as the board has reverted to Bauer arguments and Filipino/Filipina grammar discussions.
  6. Would you prefer they didn't even try in the first place?
  7. Was there any mistake in my statement though? If my quick bit of research is correct I would have erred if I referred to her as a Filipino in a singular sense, however it was technically correct to refer to her as Filipino in descent.
  8. Yeah if Ohtani actually wanted a chance to win as he was claiming then the Angels were the obvious outlier. There's really no reason for you to be dunking on the Jays front office here. Even though signing Ohtani was a longshot they took their shot in the off chance that they managed to convince him to sign with the Jays.
  9. That is true he isn't exactly a saint for deferring this money by any means. I do wonder what sort of salary he would have been paid had he not suggested the deferral scheme in the first place. Perhaps this deferral idea could even out over time if the ultra stacked Dodgers team wins multiple world series championships while he's there, with an end result of greatly increasing the eventual endorsement money he's able to rake in.
  10. She's Filipino man, you obviously don't know your Asian chicks for s***.
  11. The Blue Jays haven't publicly linked themselves to anyone. It's not like Atkins or Shapiro have been holding press conferences discussing their free agency targets or something.
  12. This is rich even coming from you. How in the world do you come to that conclusion? The guy just deferred nearly his entire salary so that his team could surround him with more talent. It's hard to be much more selfless than that.
  13. Yeah I have nothing but respect for the smaller market teams that actually spend some money and try to put a winning team on the field.
  14. In his defense it seems like he's been locked away for the last 5 or 6 years so he's a little out of touch.
  15. This is so good for baseball for the Dodgers to potentially add Ohtani, Glasnow and Yamamoto in one offseason.
  16. Thanks as always for sharing these, doing god's work as usual.
  17. I kind of prefer Martinez as it's a little easier to know what to expect from him vs Hoskins who is coming off of major surgery. Hoskins definitely has some benefits as he's much younger and has a little defensive utility as he can play first base. The early projections are better for Hoskins as well. If the team signed Bellinger as well as Hoskins then Bellinger likely wouldn't see much time at first base but that would be fine as he can offer more defensive value in the outfield.
  18. He's most likely a 3-3.5 win pitcher moving forward and has discounting his rookie and covid shortened season has only averaged about 125 innings per season for his career. He's going to be in really tough to provide value commensurate with the contract he's likely to receive.
  19. Spanky posted some BA scouting reports on the international free agents and Imanaga was portrayed as a back of the rotation starter/bulk guy. It's pretty hard to get very excited about this guy given the low likely upside.
  20. Vlad displayed better plate discipline when he was younger so it's not like he has never shown the ability to be more patient at the plate. It looks like he tends to get frustrated when borderline calls don't go his way and comes completely out of his approach and starts hacking at everything in these instances.
  21. The free agent lists seem to be projecting 2 years for Martinez. More than that is asking for trouble for sure.
  22. ctrl c ctrl v?
  23. Perhaps Vlad's bat to ball skills are a bit of a weakness when he's chasing out of the strike zone too much.
