  1. I wonder if there's a team out there in need of depth at 1B and working with a surplus of arms. Swap out Smoak for a middle reliever making similar or less money, likely would have to target a bounce back candidate coming off a down year. We may not save much money in the process but if we could reallocate Smoak's useless salary into an arm that turns out to be decently reliable, that could still turn out to be a solid gain.
  2. Pfft, Reddit doesn't deserve my puns, even the bad ones like that ^
  3. Is this Loficial yet or still just a rumor?
  4. I'm fine with signing Moss to platoon with Upton in LF, but then we still need to cover RF.
  5. Might want to consider using Stangstag as a reference
  6. I thought that was a clip of Danny Valencia fighting Billy Butler
  7. A lot of uncompetitive walks.
  8. I didn't read about any other serious suitors and if it was a two horse race we must have done something to drive that price up.
  9. Yeah that's a huge commitment they're making, and if he would have wanted more to talk him into playing RF, that number for us may have been $100M+.
  10. I took it to mean his tools at the plate, so yeah hit and power. Here's the article with the quotes - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-pablo-cruz-getting-due-scouting-excellence/
  11. I was reading that article on Sportsnet, it was worth the read for his quotes on Vladdy Jr alone. Pretty exciting to hear that kind of praise from a guy who is obviously highly regarded in the business.
  12. The contract itself is big, and then who knows how much we would have needed to add on top of that to get him here to play RF. Fowler would have been a perfect fit for us, but we weren't a perfect fit for him. On to the next one, hopefully not Bruce.
  13. We don't even know what the Jays final offer was. You need to remember that the Cards also could offer him the chance to stay in CF. The Jays very well could have been offering a similar or even greater deal in the end, and he simply chose St Louis - we can't blame Rogers or our management for that. You have to analyze what a guy is worth to the team, and set a limit on what you're willing to spend. If he simply wants to be somewhere else (and for a perfectly fair reason), you can't just keep throwing money and/or term at him until he changes his mind.
  14. Lot's of whining here, I wanted Fowler as much as anyone but not on a blank cheque. The Cards were simply in a better position to offer him big money, we can't expect to land every free agent on our wish list. Complain if you don't like the roster mid season, for now it's just hot air.
  15. I'm optimistic about Liriano this year as well. All we really need is for him to be a solid innings eater, but I have a feeling he may bring more. Ideal scenario - Liriano has a great season, gets successfully replaced by one of our young starters, signs a multi year deal with another AL East team and falls apart.
  16. I guess we could toss Sparkman somewhere into that mix too. If he has a strong ST he's a likely candidate to be our swing man to start the year.
  17. He likely isn't overly thrilled with his agent at the moment.
  18. From the guy who turned a Dexter Fowler thread into the BBBB beer league softball hero stories discussion. Half of your babbling posts have nothing to do with the topic at hand. A lot of them are funny which is why no one cares, but you're the last person who should be preaching about being on topic. Look what you've done to this rule five thread after I simply responded to one of your questions.
  19. It all goes back to the trade deadline. He suggested moving Tepera and Goins for Boone Logan, and I pointed out that those two have no trade value. He threw a giant two page hissy fit and got banned, and has held a grudge ever since. I think he's hilarious and wouldn't want to see him go anywhere but he's been especially off his rocker lately. There you go bringing up our fantasy league completely out of the blue again, if it means that much to you maybe you could beg to join?
  20. I started one awhile back. Should be on page two somewhere
  21. Lol you must really hate me if you think correctly answering a question is "pumping my tires". I suggest using the IL if your ego can't handle me providing the answers to your questions. There was no attempt at starting a fight, I'm not the one who needs to get over one's self here. By the way you already asked the first question in the previous rule five thread and I answered for you, retain that s***.
  22. Lol don't ask questions if you don't want the answer. The Jays left him unprotected, obviously not seeing him as a candidate to pitch in the bigs this year. Every other teams passed on selecting him for the same reason. I think that it goes without saying that he's fairly unlikely to be considered for a big league spot in ST.
  23. After a pair of trades the Padres now have the rights to each of the first three players selected today.
  24. If the Jays thought he could push for a job this year, they would have protected him.
