  1. And with Morales able to take some starts at 1B vs righties, that should mean we don't need to start Smoak for more than about 60 games barring injuries of course.
  2. Yeah get him out of our division.
  3. I will miss EE and wish him nothing but the best but at this point I think we're better off targeting a lead off OF bat like Fowler.
  4. But even in those 350-400 ABs, he could outproduce some of our other starters who see 500+ ABs, that makes him a key contributor regardless.
  5. As things stand Pearce would be our best option to start at 1B or either corner OF, but obviously we need to add a starting RF still.
  6. Haha take it for what you want, but honestly it was just a dig at you not be able to focus on that actual point of my post.
  7. You're calling Pearce a depth addition, and as things currently stand he'd be our best starting option at three different positions. He's here to be a key contributor, even if he does move around the diamond.
  8. You say some dumb s*** sometimes.
  9. So basically your reasoning for stating Moreland > Pearce is paranoia?
  10. RHP - Smoak/Morales 1B, Pearce/Carerra LF LHP - Pearce 1B, Upton LF
  11. It's not impossible but it doesn't really seem wise, this may be his best ever chance to cash in.
  12. I proposed this idea with Bautista in mind but it absolutely works for Pearce as well. 1B - Pearce takes the majority of starts against LHP, Smoak and Morales split the starts against RHP. LF - Pearce against RHP (with Carerra taking the odd start), Upton vs LHP. DH - Majority of games to Morales but the 30+ starts he has at 1B allow for other vets to DH on off days (Martin, Tulo, Donaldson etc) I won't post an estimate of how many games they'd each play because last time I think it gave BBBB an ulcer.
  13. The possibilities were endless and to be honest I'm a little disappointed in your effort here.
  14. "It's almost like this guy is just here for the halibut"- that sort of thing?
  15. It was a worthless point to fixate on because common sense would say that one of our bench players would fill the spot if someone got hurt, however likely you may feel that is - and I clearly pointed out in that original post that injuries could affect those numbers). If you don't want Bautista back that's fine, but your predictions are just that and not any sort of factual argument. It's very possible that Bautista becomes a good value signing later in the off season if he wants to try and rebuild value on a one year deal. I was merely pointing out a way that his bat could help this lineup as it's currently constructed. Whether you like the guy or not, there's no denying that there's still value left in that bat for the right price.
  16. See the thing is, the games played part is actually the most trivial part of the post and least worthy of debate. It was just a general framework to show how it could work to have Bautista platoon at two positions. That was the point of the post, and obviously the most debatable aspect would be rather or not Bautista would be capable of transitioning back and forth between LF and 1B. The fact that you would look past all that and get fixated on the number of games listed for Travis is just kind of weird, but if I take 10 or 20 off and give them to Barney will that help you relax so we can drop this?
  17. Another great read! I would like to see your analysis on the remaining LH relief options and who would be the best fit for the Jays.
  18. For the third time, I clearly stated that those numbers were barring injuries, read you what you are responding to. If you don't want people to think of you as an alcoholic, don't post about rum on a daily basis. You're entirely hypocritical - in one thread you're calling people out for being off topic, in another you're rambling on about beer league soft ball. When you post an idea you lose your s*** if people critique it, yet here you are s***ing on my suggestion, over an issue that I already addressed. If you can't even remember what led to you getting banned before that probably says a lot.
  19. Hey I added "fwiw" for a reason, fine by me if that worth is zero! lol
  20. I've never claimed to be one of this forum's most knowledgeable posters, but I don't need to be to know my baseball knowledge far outweighs yours. You're in no place to be picking apart anyone's ideas - just stick to being the funny old alcoholic. Haha remember when you suggested that we trade Goins and Tepera for a good reliever, and then threw a hissy fit and got banned when I tried to inform you that those two have no value? You should drop this before we wind up there again.
  21. Haha apparently those big words like "theory" really escape your grasp. Once again I encourage you to actually read what I've posted. I didn't say the idea was likely, I didn't say it was ideal. I said that in theory, Bautista could fill two of our current platoon holes. I even pointed out the variables that would prevent him from doing so.
  22. I stated that it was all barring injuries, that should go without saying. Read the posts you're responding to, could save yourself some time.
  23. Honestly I do find you to be humorous, but you should stick to being a novelty rather than trying to analyze baseball or anyone's opinions on the matter. Also while I have you here - if you're going to continue rambling on about about your beer league baseball heroics and repeatedly bringing up the LoD for whatever reason (obviously jealously but nonetheless), you should really stop complaining about others being off topic. The majority of your posts are about as useless as useless can be. Also if you actually took the time to read my post, it's pretty clear I was theorizing and not actually suggesting the idea as a strong possibility.
  24. I think you're a good poster fwiw
  25. That's legit concern for sure, and ideally Bautista would come on a shorter term deal or at least one with a team option. Either way, I'd hope that a shift to 1B could help prolong Bautista's time on the field. The platoon role could work until Upton leaves next summer, and then you look at bringing in an every day LF and making Jose the full time 1B.
