  1. Yeah those back issues are definitely a worry, he seems to be able to pitch through it but how long can he do that effectively? Happ is so much easier to bank on in my opinion.
  2. It does make sense in terms of trade value, he may never be worth more than he is right now - and likely would bring back a nice bat. If Liriano shows similar form to his time here last year, we still have a solid top four and I think we're OK to move Happ, but the idea does scare me for sure.
  3. Minor league deal with an invite to ST hopefully. He's fine as veteran pitching depth, if that's all this is.
  4. Yeah it looks like he's going to go right over on his knee the first time he catches a spike.
  5. I wouldn't have been in favor of this before seeing the additions to the pen, but with a couple dependable arms added now, I think trying to maximize Biagini's value makes a lot of sense.
  6. I worked all day, went out to coach tonight, and now I'm here talking to you beauties, could be a lot worse.
  7. Bah humbug
  8. As far as affordable utility players go he's pretty much ideal. It feels like Phillips has been a trade candidate forever, and he very well could be again this season if he finds any sort of success in Atlanta.
  9. Softball (fast pitch). Keep in mind regular season games would just end in a tie so we're only talking playoffs when the "international rule" gets used for extra innings, but it's always been a semi - serious league and fairly high caliber. I like it that way, it's good to have a competitive outlet and I figure I'll keep running and sliding around until I can no longer enjoy it. I won't be up in arms if they go to this for the regular season after 12 innings or something. It better not creep into playoff games though.
  10. I've played with this rule, first batter is squaring to bunt almost every time.
  11. So we basically got Smith + Howell for roughly what we may have paid for a guy like Blevins...
  12. I found this article regarding a potential batting adjustment for Pillar to be fairly interesting, mainly because I've always believed that he appeared to be standing unusually far off the plate. http://toronto.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2017/02/02/one-potential-fix-for-kevin-pillars-hitting-woes/ Whether this is the reason or not, Pillar's plate coverage definitely needs vast improvement.
  13. I mean, I'll take Tepera on the cheap over Smoak at his salary any day, but I agree that I have no faith in the former at all. His fastball just appears to have no "life" to it, straight as an arrow.

Yep I agree, the future is bright but they're not built for the present. Leafs fans just need to stay patient and enjoy the ride, this group is going to contend for a long time.
  15. Based on their current salary numbers, the D'Backs stand to pay 46.7% of their payroll to Zack Greinke. He'll make $34M in 2017, and the team only has $72.8M in total commitments. If that isn't some modern day record it has to be up there.
  16. Still despaired that you got him one pick ahead of me, I'm happy with Romero but I thought Keller was falling to me for sure. LoD Yankees 51) SP Luke Weaver 52) C Zack Collins 76) SP Jack Flaherty 94) SP Fernando Romero 106) 1B Dominic Smith 121) SP Hunter Harvey 142) CF Jahmai Jones 143) 3B Hunter Dozier
  17. Best wishes to Sean Rodriguez and his family. What a crazy story - their car was hit by stolen police cruiser! http://wsvn.com/sports/atlanta-braves-confirm-player-family-involved-in-west-miami-dade-crash/
  18. Looks like Moss may be close to signing with KC.
  19. It won't play for me
  20. When the Dozier to LA talks were going on, I figured Calhoun would be a nice second piece for the Twins.
  21. Yeah I don't have any big expectations from whoever wins that ST battle, but in the very least, having multiple similar options means a better chance that someone is seeing the ball well when April rolls around.
  22. Yep he's league min. Between Graterol/Jimenez/Ohlman we can have three catcher depth slots filled (MLB back up + two for Buffalo) for less than a lot of these crappy veteran backups would have cost.
  23. I'm basically just trying to say the bat is the variable, his defense and framing is solid.
  24. Graterol is an average framer and does a good job holding baseunners. If he can get on base he'll be a solid back up at worst.
  25. Holy s*** I called this one!
