  1. Yeah I feel like both are going to be offered multi year deals in the ballpark of that number, so I don't understand the decision at all.
  2. You've done this multiple times and it's not a good look for you.
  3. It would be different if he had the stuff to suggest he'd be a good reliever, but in his case I agree that we're better off trying to squeeze out whatever value we get from him as a starter first

Randy is on borrowed time, he'll be bumped up to a desk job any day now.
  5. I'd be fine with taking on one of those bad reliever contracts to make it happen

Yeah the team is allowing a record setting number of high danger chances, and Gibson is the only thing keeping them for complete futility.
  7. I don't know what that is, or nearly enough about Dutch culture. Some day I'll travel there and see where my family came from
  8. Mostly yes
  9. I barely follow the sport, and have never really cheered for a particular team besides the Netherlands in international play. I could see choosing whatever big club de Ligt ends up transfering to.
  10. Drones
  11. Speaking of football movies, what was your take on Green Street Hooligans?
  12. Yeah you're right that it would need to happen at the start of each inning and/or appearance in order to be effective. Probably a bit too tedious, but I was picturing someone bolting out bat boy style to do a quick 15 second inspection and running back. Likely far fetched, but I just want them to come up with something that ensures equal ground.
  13. Is it absurd to suggest we may see an on field official checking the hands of pitchers before each/game like we do in combat sports?
  14. So I'm going to pass on getting shut down by the prettiest girl there and head straight for the angry and uncoordinated section, got it.
  15. I read something the other day that actually questioned whether we would exercise Smoak's option. Enjoyed a good chuckle. Edit - was Heyman https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/10/heymans-latest-hamels-smoak-nunez-bregman-padres.html
  16. David Robertson will be representing himself this off season https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/10/david-robertson-why-im-representing-myself-in-free-agency.html At this point in my life and career, no one else understands my wants and needs more than myself. After recognizing this, I made the decision to forgo using an agent since I no longer feel as though I need a middle man. I know what I want in a contract, I’m aware of what I can offer to teams, and teams are aware of my abilities. I’m sure there is a lot of speculation regarding my choice. One thing I want to address is that this decision has nothing to do with my former agent. He is a great guy and has become a close friend of mine. He did a great job representing me for over a decade and I will always appreciate that. But I believe all players need to pay close attention to what they do and their own career path. I wouldn’t recommend self representation to just anyone – heck I wouldn’t recommend it to the majority of players. However, being a guy that’s hung around long enough to know what I can offer a team and what I would like in return, I feel I’m best suited to have all the discussions necessary to figure out my next contract. A lot of people have and will question my decision. It’s not common to see a player take this path and I’m aware of that and the potential obstacles I may face by doing so. But in the end, I made this decision for myself and my family and for now I’m going to stick with it. I believe I have a lot to offer a team on and off the field and I know I will end up in the right place.
  17. Yeah that's true, we should have the roster and payroll space to take on multiple gambles of that nature.
  18. Take a knee Machado, hell go ahead and take two
  19. He'll probably spike the catcher and then jog
  20. It's an interesting scenario. It's just over 70M total (2 years) that he would be leaving on the table to opt out. What are we thinking he could fetch on the open market this off season?
  21. I'd assume he would have to at least on an official basis. Thanks buddy!
  22. Yep they agreed to terms yesterday. Ridiculous in my opinion.
