    After missing large sections of two seasons it’s far too early to give up on Sanchez as a starter. But assuming he’s fit next year then he’ll need to show more to stay in the rotation long term.

    Loved is a stretch, but a Garcia 1 year deal with a team option was most people’s preferred option to a 3+ commitment to someone like Cobb.

    I think most people’s issue was with the 3rd year on the contract, which limits roster flexibility more than anything.

    Even DFA then granting Granderson a release so he has at least a chance of someone picking him up. It really is pointless him taking away playing time from anyone here

    The schedule confirms that the Red Sox and Yankees play two games in England at London Stadium (where the Olympics were held) on June 29th & 30th. Seattle and Oakland start the season in Japan too.

    IMO it’ll be another transition year with mainly prospects playing. Maybe we have a Braves like year where we’re competing a year early but we shouldn’t be counting on it. There’s virtually no chance JD has a 8 WAR season, but if he was brought back and started well he could then be traded to open up 3rd for Vlad. It does sound like the front office don’t want to take that risk though. Whether that’s because they think he’s done health wise, or it’s for payroll reasons, or even they don’t want to block Vlad, we don’t know.

    Yeah the QO seems to make sense for both sides unless JD’s health is now Tulo like. If payroll needs to be slashed then we could just fill out the rotation with prospects / cheap veterans to replace the $34m Happ / Estrada / Garcia payroll that we started this year with.
