  1. The Rockies have now won 8 in a row and secured a playoff place. If they hold off the Dodgers and win their division, they could use that momentum to be a threat in the playoffs. Their whole offseason was about building a lockdown bullpen for the playoffs. While only Wade Davis has had anything like a good season from the summer acquisitions, Oberg, Ottavino and Oh have been great for them. Shaw and McGee now get a chance to redeem themselves by contributing in the playoffs too.
  2. It was updated mate - see the board discussion we had on the previous pages.
  3. Yeah looking like a clean sweep in the afternoon matches.
  4. Great start for the US - can they win in Europe for the first time in 25 years? Europe leading 3-1 early in the afternoon matches so hopefully it'll end up as a close one.
  5. I guess the author hasn’t being paying much attention the second half of the season. To be fair Grichuk started off badly so maybe he was soured by that? The Steve Pearce effect.
  6. Yeah that’s fair. I think Diaz is better suited to infield cover than starting SS, but no issue with him there until Bichette is (hopefully) ready.
  7. Lots of low grades of course, Martin and Grichuk seem particularly harsh though (D- and D+)
  8. You think Diaz is good enough that he has to play every day? I don’t. He’s a versatile player who is a good depth piece. He’s not someone you have to get into the lineup. Obv he’s better than the likes of Goins though. Travis when he was fit looked like he was going to be a fixture in the team, putting up 2.2 and 2.4 WAR both in basically half seasons disrupted by injuries. It never happened though because of his knees. I appreciate the FO like Drury and they obv have more info than we do. I still think he’s s***, haha.
  9. Haha, I literally said the opposite, but I get what you mean. Before the injuries Travis was one of our most important players IMO. Diaz is a journeyman bench player, and Drury is s***. Sad it’s come to this.
  10. WAR isn’t infallible as it’s still a statistic that can never account for all the minor variables when comparing two players. However, the obvious comeback to his argument is that RBIs are also a statistic and are subject to much bigger variables. It’s pretty simple really.
  11. His knees have destroyed his career, wouldn’t be surprised if both Diaz and Drury make next year’s 25 man over Travis.
  12. Luckily Canada aren’t eligible to play in Euro 2020!
  13. Haha, in real life he’s basically the prototype of a perfect wing back. Fast, good on the ball, can cross or cut inside.
  14. Looking on the bright side a full season of Ohtani at DH with no post pitching offdays needed is exciting. The Angels could really do with releasing Pujols and eating his contract to free up a roster spot.
  15. The potential England team for the Euros looks so promising on paper (2020 ages in brackets): ........................Pickford (26) .....Gomez (23).......Stones (26).......Maguire (27) Trippier (30)..........................................Sessegnon (20) ................Henderson (29 - this is the weakest position, hopefully someone else will come through) .......Foden (20)....... Alli (24) / Sterling (25) .......Kane (26)....... Sancho (20) / Rashford (22)
  16. I know I keep banging on about him, but Phil Foden is going to be a superstar. Ran the game for Man City last night in a League Cup game (against lower league opposition admittedly) and his manager Guardiola compared him to Iniesta. I just wish he'd get more playing time this year so that he's got a couple of seasons of regular playing time behind him in time for Euro 2020.
  17. Yeah the position changes nearly every day. The Rockies and the Dodgers could easily miss the playoffs entirely, or win their division. Would not be a surprise if at least one tiebreaker game is needed with teams finishing on identical records.
  18. The Rockies are now in the second wildcard position after 5 wins in a row. 5 games left, all home games against non playoff teams. Most of the playoff positions in the NL are going right down to the wire, much closer than in the AL!
  19. I know you didn't do it on purpose, but "out for the rest of the season" sounds bad until you realise he'll only miss 5 games!
  20. Jon Heyman is saying that Buck Showalter is going to lose his job with the Orioles - an obvious opportunity to swap managers with us! Haha, I almost would want to see it happen just for the board’s collective meltdown.
  21. The difference is that an opener guarantees that they’ll face the first 3 hitters in order. You can then adjust how long the traditional starter goes from the second inning onwards. Do it the other way round and it might not line up with the top 3.
  22. Jeff Banister is available! /s
  23. Davis has 43 homers mate, that’s the only stat that matters for a hitter /s
