  1. Watch where the players place their hands when lining up in a wall to defend a free kick, that’ll answer your question.
  2. Justin Kluivert (son of Patrick) just went to Roma from Ajax too and he’s only 19. The Dutch conveyor belt of class players is ramping up again - hope they qualify for the Euros. Dutch fans light up any tournament.
  3. Yeah he’s by far the best teenager in the world but he’s nearly 20 so basically an old man!
  4. Probably yeah, though Umaro Embalo at Benfica, and Willem Geubbels at Monaco are already established for European teams. Vinicius jr is now 18 but cost twice what Davies has gone for. Ryan Sessegnon won player of the year in the Championship at 17 last season. Phil Foden who just turned 18 a few months ago is another big hope for England, unfortunately he’s at Man City with limited playing time - hopefully he gets a loan move so that he can start playing more.
  5. It would have been cool if Cleveland had got Bautista too.
  6. There’s been quite a few very young talented foreign players that have had success going to German teams and getting more playing time than they would in other European leagues (especially the Premier League). Pulisic and Jadon Sancho at Dortmund, Lookman at RB Leipzig, Pavard at Stuttgart.
  7. It also was a good "signing". We gave up 2 lottery tickets to replace our back up infielder Goins (at that point a career WAR of -0.2) with Solarte (at that point a career WAR of 6.9). It just didn't work out.
  8. It wouldn’t be quite as bad as the NBA as anyone in the MLB playoffs could win, but yeah it’d also drag on too long.
  9. 16 teams in the playoffs is too many IMO. Agree the regular season is too long, I’d ideally like to go lower than 150 but it’d mess up season stats if it did.
  10. I didn't understand why so many of you seem obsessed with Sheryl Ring's articles, now it all makes sense.
  11. Insane that he’s been by far their best position player this year. By the way I just looked it up and Jose Ramirez was just 1 homerun off doing it last season.
  12. One thing that article doesn’t mention - Ohtani will still be only 25 on opening day 2020, with four years of control left.
  13. I don’t see any downside to having him start next year. If he fails, he can still be sent to the bullpen towards the end of the season (and likely then traded). If he succeeds we’ve got another valuable asset, and he could be extended or traded. Due to injury he’s only had one full season as a starter and he was elite that year.
  14. Well if someone leaked it now and was caught, they’d be in serious trouble. Less risky to leak it after the court case is over.
  15. It was delayed again, this time to the 19th.
  16. Using the button on threads to go to the next unread post doesn’t work most of the time. It will randomly send you to a point you left off reading days ago. Doesn’t matter if you’re on mobile (even with the mobile version) or a PC. Also doesn’t change if you look at the same thread repeatedly. I believe it’s something to do with incorrectly registering your visit. The front page says there’s 1,000 to 2,000 people online at all times which isn’t accurate. Before all the issues, in the early hours Eastern time there would rarely be more than a handful online.
  17. Morales and EE have similar stats this year, and if Morales continues to cools down from his hot streak they’ll be even closer. Both will end up with middle of the pack stats for a DH.
  18. He’s also finally being allowed to hit against left handed starters as they no longer need to rest him for his pitching starts. 2 homeruns in 2 games vs lefties, with a 4 for 4 with 2 homers game in the middle. Despite missing most of the pitching season and 6 weeks as a hitter, he’s got to be AL rookie of the year IMO.
  19. Easier said than done!
  20. Betts - the best team's best player. Even if he hadn't been as good as he has been, he'd still get lots of votes just from that status.
  21. That's not true anymore. Now he's over his injuries he's been playing catcher most games this season - he even won player of the month in August at catcher.
  22. I guess Martin will pretty much exclusively be at 3B now with 4 catchers on the team!
  23. Yup, don't spend anything and we could see a record low payroll. I hope Rogers doesn't decide to do that but I don't think we can rule it out yet.
