  1. And if his concussion was the only thing that had gone wrong for him, your point would be valid, haha.
  2. Pompey is the classic 'needs a change of scenery' player. He's had terrible luck in his time here.
  3. Yeah if he was ripping his teammates and saying "I'm the only one who is trying" etc, but he doesn't do that. He's passionate, which no doubt winds up opponents but not teammates, and promotes himself and his team. I suspect he's one of the more popular players in the clubhouse.
  4. It’s been one of the bigger disappointments of the season him being injured all year. If he could pitch well for the next couple of months it’d make next year’s rotation seem a little less of a disaster waiting to happen.
  5. Yeah that’s right. It’s also the last ever season that the September call ups include the full 40 man, it’ll be interesting to see how the changes effect the teams’ roster decisions.
  6. Last year there were twelve July trades up to the 22nd with another 39 made the rest of July. This year there have been 16 so far. Patience my friend!
  7. It was widely reported at the time that that was pretty much the first thing Shapiro did, criticising the moves. Then AA is offered an effective demotion to stay, AA obviously must have been pissed off. But yeah as everyone has said, the no trades between them must be ********. If anything you'd want to trade with someone you don't like so that you can demonstrate your superior baseball knowledge (as any GM/President is going to make a trade thinking that they're getting a good deal).
  8. T.J. Zeuch will be exposed to the rule 5 draft next season. So we might as well add him to the 40 man and give him some starts, once we have traded half a dozen players and moved Sanchez to the bullpen. Urena and Tellez will probably be back after the deadline too.
  9. Seems an easy decision to send McKinney down and give Pompey his last chance. Not sure it’ll happen though. TBF he might clear waivers anyway.
  10. Wow, it was worth watching to the bitter end!
  11. Sounds like ******** speculation. Any front office that would be so petty and unprofessional shouldn’t be running a team and would likely have a terrible reputation around the league (something Shatkins don’t have, despite the moaning about them).
  12. Obv, but that wasn’t what I was asking. I was asking is he going to have a regular spot in next season's rotation, not is he going to be one of the many starters we’ll use in an emergency.
  13. I wouldn’t count spot starts / injury cover as being in the rotation in relation to my original query.
  14. “ERA+ stands for “adjusted ERA.” It is defined as “a pitchers earned run average adjusted for parks pitched in and the average ERA of the pitcher’s league.” Link
  15. So is Waguespack going to be in the rotation next year? He pretty much has to be to see out this season, almost by default.
  16. Got to be a few teams interested in acquiring him.
  17. Trout isn’t even the current player with the highest career WAR on his own team - overrated! /s
  18. TBF, it’s better than it used to be. Things like the Rugby Union national team having success as a united Ireland helps. If Brexit ever happens it could get worse again though!
  19. Ooh you’d be lynched for saying that by some over here. Lowry is Irish not Notthern Irish, haha.
  20. Not sure, but yeah maybe packaging Sogard with a reliever would be the way to go.
  21. You're forgetting that we still have an expensive payroll this year because of Tulo and Martin. You are right that it seems unlikely that $5m couldn't have been found with or without Pillar though.
  22. Unlike Pearce and Granderson, Sogard has been s*** his entire career though. It's unlikely a contending team is going to want to acquire him solely for his bat, it would be for infield cover. And why give up even a C prospect for a rental infield cover player, when you'd likely get a Galvis type with an extra year of control for a similar price?
