  1. I'd say Barney is worth it too - solid cover for 3B/SS/2B. Sure we could get some journeyman at the minimum salary, but IMO it's worth a small premium to secure someone who's already shown he can play that role for us. Seems fair value too - Cliff Pennington got $3m for 2 years from the Angels, out of his cameo for us last year.
  2. The problem with signing both to long term expensive deals at whatever they ask for (up to $25/30m for 4/5 years) is that we already have Tulo, Martin and Donaldson on expensive deals. Even with a very large payroll we'd be restricted on filling out the rest of the roster needs, both now and in the future. Plus if we had a down year either of the next 2 seasons (can happen to anyone) the pressure to blow it all up would be immense. I'd much rather sign one (ideally EE) and let the other walk, I do agree that this shouldn't handicap us too much even if we overpay to the tune of $25m for 3/4 years. But if both ask for ridiculous amounts then I'd say take the picks.
  3. Sure if he's injured. But when he's cleared to play there's no way you don't want him in the lineup - so referring to him missing as "a blessing" is going too far.
  4. Nice! Still hoping for a Jays vs Nats World Series. Long, long way to go of course.
  5. Even if you wanted to take out Travis from the field, he's a much better DH option than Saunders.
  6. Also posted in game 2 thread in response to a query.
  7. Sounds like he's fine. I'm much more worried about Travis. Gibby is talking to press about now so we should get updates on both within the hour.
  8. I agree with this. None of the left handed pitchers are ultra reliable at the moment. Loup is also on the roster and at this point it could be worth using him as a LOOGY. Use Liriano and Cecil alternately if you need more than one out.
  9. 21 years old, came out injured last game = 5 out / 31 pitch save. Legend!
  10. Do we risk Osuna's health by letting him pitch the 9th? I guess if he's available they've got to have cleared him right?
  11. Concussion protocols - got to be careful
  12. Sorry but you misunderstand- I said if we score again (I.e. If we make it a blowout) we should save Liriano for when we need him.
  13. What would you call pitching in a blow out win if it's not mopping up? Irrelevant if we fail to score anyway.
  14. If we score again though use Feldman - no point wasting Liriano if it's not close.
  15. The homeruns allowed Gibby to get Happ the chance of a win, it's the right decision to take him out now, we're lucky to have only conceded 1 run.
  16. Surely you'd just use $10k of that money to buy someone else's ticket?
  17. June 16th he hit 2 vs the Phillies. Zero since, until today!
  18. Pillar!!! Happ's defo staying in to try to get the win now
  19. Is there even anyone warming up in the bullpen?
  20. He's played his way out of a QO, at the all star break it was looking like we might be convinced to offer him one.
