  1. That's an exaggeration, you don't know how good he can be until he's given a chance. The FO thinks Hernandez can play everyday, and he was blocked with the Astros so his chances to play were limited there.
  2. There's a discussion in the normal ticket thread.
  3. Obviously we've acquired Nori Aoki to tell Otani about the benefits of living in Canada!
  4. Yeah, that would be my preference too. However, the FO may want to see if Morales can justify his contract and prove them right in seeing something in him (like what appears to have happened with Smoak). In that scenario I wonder if they'd prefer to trade Pearce who out of the 3 is the only one with just 1 more year of control instead of 2.
  5. I like Cobb if he's not too expensive, another year away from his TJ and still only 29. Trouble is free agent starters normally are expensive! If we're going to spend silly money on a starter I'd want it to be Otani, and then fill out the rotation depth with scrubs and/or Biagini.
  6. That was some Tony Jaa action last night http://cdn.ebaumsworld.com/mediaFiles/picture/31430/81968733.gif
  7. Yeah next year we can't roster 3 1B/DH, 2 reserve middle infielders, and 5 OF unless there's more overlap. Pearce isn't good enough in the OF to play everyday there but his bat is too good to be a platoon/4th OF.
  8. Assuming Bautista isn't back we've got quite a bit of payroll to play with ($41m coming off the books from Bautista, Estrada and Liriano). Otani would be amazing sign. Could fill the two biggest needs - a starter and an OF, haha. Realistically though, signing him as a starter would help to reinvigorate the atmosphere around the Jays.
  9. Here's his first MLB hit (and homer) - off Liriano no less!
  10. I just Googled Hernandez for highlights: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/0/5/2/217827052/030317_gif_hernandez_spike_ball_med_dj826tze.gif
  11. That's the worst claim to fame ever, haha.
  12. Pleased with this deal. Looks like there's a good chance of having at least one 25 man OF next year from Hernandez, Alford and Smith Jr. Ages next year = 25, 24 and 25.
  13. Doubt it factors in really, would make more sense if we were an OF down to give Alford a 2 month audition for an OF place on next year's roster.
  14. Aoki's contract is $5.5m this year, no way we offer him arbitration next year. This must be we're using our wealth to give them Liriano for free and paying Aoki's contract, to upgrade the prospect from nothing to (hopefully) something.
  15. Haha, TBF this season was ruined by injuries, I'm not certain any different moves last offseason would have saved it.
  16. Fowler has 0.2 more WAR than Carrera this season.
  17. None of them are going to be worth much, but I'd argue that Liriano - as a left hander and someone who a playoff team could use as a long reliever - has slightly more trade value than Estrada considering Marco's recent troubles.
  18. Darvish will be a better indicator for the worth attached to 30 year olds both in the trade return for his rental, and the contract he gets in the offseason.
  19. How the hell did we win that game, felt like we'd lost it 2 hours ago!
  20. Career high homers for Pillar.
  21. How is it still only the 6th inning? It's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun.

  23. I may be wrong, but think he meant "Holy sweet Jesus, Montero threw someone out "
