  1. I just hope him giving it rest for so long helps. If he starts in spring training and it comes back what on earth is he going to do? Whether Sanchez is fit or not for a 200 inning season makes a massive difference to the rotation for next year.
  2. Cleveland now up to 16 in a row after beating Orioles 5-0. Edwin hit his 34th homer too. Diamondbacks streak ends at 13 after loss to the Padres.
  3. The negative is if you take out Bo and Vlad it doesn't look anything like as good. The positive is that how many other teams have 2 elite prospects like that? Agree top ten is realistic.
  4. You say that, but not all players have the Mookie snarl:
  5. This is amusing:
  6. It's a bit of an overstatement to call it a tough year - he's 4th in WAR and 3rd in FIP for relievers. Which is better than Andrew Miller for example.
  7. If Urena can play at both SS and 2B he's got more chance of making the 25 man next year. Begs the question why he hasn't been playing any 2B in the minors though.
  8. Good to see Teoscar leading off, him doing well is vital to be competitive next year IMO.
  9. The Bisons' season ends tomorrow so we should see a few more call ups. Campos, and, Chris Smith for the bullpen, Rowley for starting depth, plus Alford and maybe even Borucki?
  10. Verlander has a full no trade clause which complicates things a bit.
  11. He's already on the 40 man roster so why not? With Biagini's troubles there's a chance for someone else to win a starting role.
  12. Not that I think that's what Brownie or Krylian were doing, but it's a natural reaction when if any of us were millionaire professional sportsmen we'd like to think we'd prioritise things other than money.
  13. I don't think it really happens enough to be an issue, and some years it could water down the MVP if a different position player won the two awards (unless you keep the same voters for both awards it could happen in a close year). They could have a "super" silver slugger the way they have both gold gloves and an overall defensive player of the year.
  14. Yeah I'm OK with it personally. A pitcher has to be completely dominant to even be considered, and there's only been Verlander as an AL pitcher MVP in the last 25 years.
  15. Chris Sale is on pace for a 9 WAR season and should get some votes for MVP.
  16. Not much point having a DH only on the bench.
  17. How fit are you? Could you run to 1st base without having a heart attack? Realistically unless someone has played to a fairly decent standard, and has kept themselves physically fit, any amateur would struggle to get a hit more than a handful of times.
  18. Same for Estrada who was claimed by the Yankees.
  19. Anything more than 5 years (including next year) plus an option year would be too much IMO - but that might not get it done. As we say - it's going to be very difficult to do the "right" thing, when no one really knows what the right thing is!
