    There's no real risk for the claiming team if they're not contenders. He's a close to MLB ready prospect. Pick him and play him at 1B, if he's rubbish no harm done and offer him back. If he is pretty good or better you've got a basically free asset. No way he'd go unclaimed IMO, and I doubt we risk exposing him.

    He's been sent down to get back into the routine of starting and if all goes well he'll be back in the big league rotation after 2 or 3 starts.

    Yeah but there are 7 teams between us and the second wildcard. Let's just say that if we make it, then we're going to be favourites for the World Series because we'd be in incredible form!

    Every time we play like this it's even more frustrating we got off to such a terrible start this year. Ah well, at least we can look forward to next season with more optimism.

    Even more bizarre - you look at that now and you can't believe Goins has as many as our most consistent player this year. If we were told that in the offseason, we'd have all assumed we'd be close to 100 losses by now.

    JD either being healthy or traded for a haul too.

    Sure, but they gave him a boost otherwise he wouldn't have taken them. The change in circumstances may have a bigger effect, e.g. known as a cheat, not as popular with fans or media (doubt his teammates care). You've got to be very strong mentally to come back from that.

    Will Marte ever get back to the level of his drug assisted numbers though? He's been pretty bad in limited time this season.

    Yeah apart from Grilli and Howell, everyone in the pen that's played a significant role has been good.

    Sources I've read said Chris Smith and Coghlan have been DFA but not Howell?

    Gibby saying that Sanchez may come back as a reliever this season to get some innings in.

    Joining a Jays game mid way through and we're winning - a rare feat this year! Looking forward to watching Rowley at the top of the 6th.

    Yeah makes sense. J.P. Howell is the only current reliever who's out of options so we have lots of flexibility too.
