I feel the bullpen overall is improved. There's more quality arms to call upon now which is exciting that we don't have to see the likes of Beasley or Banda anymore. I just don't know how much better we actually got in moments that actually matter. We still don't have that guy that come in and get strikeout an important situations. Bench is slightly improved with another component option. And we added another Swingman to the Rotation/Bullpen when we really needed was atleast another mid rotation option. Some of the trades I would have preferred they didn't make. The Miami one I am good with. The Royals one I'm ok with. Dislike the Dodgers one immensely. I don't feel the areas we needed got addressed.

I don't like Mitch White but I hope he ranks ahead of Kikuchi on the depth chart now.

I wasn't suggesting that. But they could fast track him into the pen for next season. Or should have said could have. He's been starting all year on an innings limit obviously but hes been dominating when hes pitched.

My thoughts exactly. I am thoroughly disappointed with how this trade deadline went. We can honestly say we didn't add an impact starter or a late inning reliever. Despite acquiring 4 MLB Pitchers and a position player.

I guess the real question is. Would people be this upset if Frasso was traded in a Carlos Rodon trade or a Raisel Iglesias trade. We can throw Noah Syndergaard in the mix as well. Boring Mitch "f***ing" White has been well established.

A high reliever priority with a high 90's fastball and swing and miss stuff. You know like exactly what the Jays need right now? That kind of probability?

There's almost no shot hes still unvaccinated. He must have gotten it. I remember there was a local story about his vax status when it came to him not traveling to Toronto. He said something along the lines of the Royals going nowhere this year but I guess I would consider getting it if he was going to get traded to a contender. That didn't go over well in Kansas City. So he might have got it save face after that trip.

But who knows I wasn't a fan of the Stripling trade either. Kendall Williams has been pretty meh in the minors so far despite having an electric Fastball. Hes still only 21 though.

Mitch White is litterally a swing man. Sure lots of control but hes so f***ing boring. Why are we trading guys big arms that could be moved fast to the bullpen to help out next year. Like it just isn't a good transaction. Especially when you know the Dodgers are willing to do it. We some how came out of this trade deadline with less swing and miss in the future lol. Even Max Castillo was atleast striking out more than a batter an inning lol.

Another reliever that doesn't strike anyone out. And Nick Frasso has struck out everybody this year. This one could hurt.

I don't hate this move. Samad Taylor is such a Royals type of player and doesn't look like he was ever going to get an opportunity here. He's probably off the roster if the Rule 5 didn't get cancelled. They didn't protect him or planned to.

I would probably jizz everywhere if we got Rodon.

Richards will either get you the strikeout or give up a 3 run Homerun. Unfortunately it’s often been the ladder.

I like Bass I feel he will help us. But when the games on the line and you got a runner on third with less than 2 outs. He gives up that groundball that sneaks through or that Medium fly ball that’s deep enough to score the runner. The guy who misses bats is stranding that guy at third with no advancement. And that’s ultimately the difference.

Only time will tell. I feel that core is young enough to give them time to recoup the farm. But I agree that they have under performed.

Groshans just never tapped into his power potential which was the most notable thing about him as High School prospect. His claim to fame was the monster home run he hit at Petco Park on MLB Network!

If only we got a generational player in that trade. I don’t see the comparison.

They do and that’s apart of the risk vs reward evaluation. I would rather be the guy trying to make something impactful happen rather than the one sitting around hoping it falls into my lap. I definitely don’t think passive is the right approach. You can’t be afraid to shake things up.

He’s another middle reliever that will be asked to do more than that. He’s just another option in that mix. Its like going out trading for another Yimi Garcia. Hopefully a late inning reliever with a high K rate remains in the works.

It must be f***ing fun to be a Padres fan. They take big swings all the time. I hope that core wins multiple World Series so that’s the new model. Teams hoard prospects and a lot of them never make it. And than ultimately get nothing for them. A key component in building a farm system is not only to develop your own talent but to use it for already established pieces. I teel so many teams are only focused on half this process.

This isn’t swing and miss Atkins. I feel Groshans is nothing but seems in terms of pure prospect ranking this is an overpay. Guess prices were rough

I swear Padres make 3x the amount of trades of any other team.

Nah relievers are volatile. He would have been a pending free agent by the time they were competitive. And who knows how good he actually is. He’s not an elite K guy. There’s only a handful of relievers across the league I would consider investing multiple years and big money commitments. And even guys like Josh Hader can completely fall apart.
