  1. He’s off to a decent start but he has a long track record of being a bad hitter who should be hitting at the bottom of the order and is the ideal #9 hitter on this team with a fully healthy lineup. Oak has long track record of being one of the best hitters in Japan. Hasn’t materialized here yet. But we have seen flashes. With how bad the team has been offensively they can really try almost anything at this point. I personally have been more disappointed by the Defense. That’s something we didn’t even worry about last year and now it’s very much a problem. Really puts in perspective quickly how good we had it with Kirk. Not only did you lose his bat you lost him just fundamentally making all the correct plays.
  2. Honestly having read his post back now your right. I read that as Davis not John. Still don’t understand the main point but that’s my bad otherwise.
  3. Not what I asked Spanky. I asked what Gimenez had anything to do with Scheneider.
  4. What would Gimenez have to do with that? They don't think Davis can play Second Base and they don't think he can hit right-handed pitching which is the clear picture we have got from the last year and half. Okamoto is going to play because they gave him $64 million. Sosa is going to play because they traded for him despite not having a defensive position but can hit with some pop which the team has very little off at the moment and had especially none off the bench.
  5. Jays will sweep in Arizona. And the playoffs will be easy to make! Get ready to ride that wave!
  6. Honestly glad none of those contracts are on the book. Will take Carroll though.
  7. Couldn’t throat Sproat : ( How did Oak look at 1B?
  8. Bold going straight to boyfriend and not even wife lol
  9. If he gets on base almost makes more sense to have him hit Leadoff. Atleast until he can't hit righty pitching. He seems to struggle more with velocity over just handedness. I kinda don't like the idea of 2 low on base hitting # 1 and #2, But atleast Ernie can handle the bat and put it in play.
  10. Yes. All his starts have have been at 3B. He’s also played 2 innings at 1B to sub in for Vlad.
  11. Very much agree with this. No reason to not try to develop him as Shortstop as long as you can.
  12. I guess they are hoping they can spark Lukes and perhaps they plan to bring in Davis for him anyway so having him in the leadoff spot could set up a better lineup situation later.
  13. Lets go with Sosa tonight.
  14. You can move Hoffman to 8th or do it based on match ups. Might be a situation where you want Rogers to come in and get a ground ball. Or you want Hoffman to come in get a strikeout. When you need to finish a game and you have Varland you use him. There will be some nights the real save situation comes earlier. It doesn’t have to be perfect handoff I think its better when the situation in more fluid based on matchups.
  15. It’s not even just that play thats the problem point. Its how many times he’s been out of position to receive throws. Countless times runners have taken 3B and he can’t even get to the bag to get a tag down. Even Dan Shulman has pointed it out. He’s not a good Third Baseman. Plain and simple. Lets hope he actually starts hitting soon to compensate.
  16. If Ernie is playing Third Base we get that out easily.
  17. Watch it again. Varland looked at third and Oakamoto wasn’t anywhere near the bag and the runner was only half way to third. Had Oakamoto been in position that was an easy put out.
  18. And you would do damn well to remember that. Its not hopeless but he needs a lot of work at Third. So many times already he’s been late arriving on tag plays at the bag. Varland had an easy out at Third Base in the 10th but he couldn’t throw the ball because Oakamoto didn’t run to the bag.. it’s the little things that add up to big things.
  19. I'm not saying he's not unlucky. But his command was s*** tonight. And you gotta find a way to close a game without your best stuff sometimes. It just way to often with him. Way to often.
  20. When your Closer you can't let the situation snow ball on you every night.
  21. I pointed it out earlier but its very rare that Varland is even available behind Hoffman because hes deployed to put out fires in the 6th and 7th and sometimes earlier. Its clear Rogers is the 8th inning guy. Schneider could have and should have went to Varland earlier in the 9th when it was clear Hoffman didn't have it tonight.
  22. His Defense has been extremely bad. And his positioning is really the main issue. If they can address the fact that he doesn't know where to go when the ball is hit in play that would be an excellent start to getting him to a passable at that position. Imai start to his career has been disappointing to say the least. But I don't think A he's healthy. And B he is in a good state of mind.
