All things considered Canada hung in and had a chance to do a lot better and that's all you can really ask for. Hopefully more pitching commits for 2029. Feel like this team could get to a final four if its gets its full compliment.

I feel like he knows that he still has the stuff to get people out. I think he's just fatigued of the injuries and doesn't want to go through it anymore. He was always a prime candidate for a conversion to the pen. It looks like he was gearing up for only this tourney unfortunately but it would be great if he came back and gave it another shot.

Baseball traditionalist watching these Latin Baseball games might actually be spontaneously combusting. It’s a full on party when someone goes deep. I’m waiting for 2 DR players to run onto the field and putting the Homerun hitter on their shoulder and parade him to home plate.

Doesn’t make much sense to me either but apparently it was pre determined that US was going to be playing in the bracket slot regardless if they won the group or not. It’s all very confusing to follow.

I hope this is true but so much counterinfo out there. Jeff Passan literally tweeted that Canada plays the US if Italy wins.

Finishing second in the group would have gave Canada a better match up. Even when you finally win you still lose. And we gotta play the Americans pissed and embarrassed they lost to Italy,

If you would have told me this morning that Italy beat the USA in Baseball and someone in the NBA would scored 83 points today I would have told you you're on meth.

So the other interesting domino here is if Canada wins its group and the tie breaker goes USAs way it be Canada vs USA in the quarter finals. But if USA gets eliminated. Canada might actually play Italy or Puerto Rico in the Quarter Finals. Which means all of a sudden Canada could go to the Final 4 out of nowhere.

It seems highly unlikely weighing all factors. And one the bigger factors is the Olympics actually require a lot more documentation in terms of who you can compete for. So a lot of these guys who play for other countries in the WBC would be ineligible in the Olympics. There is a growing desire for it to happen. Especially with it being in LA.

Mark DeRosa was always a weird choice as Manager. Did he even do any kind of coaching. I am pretty sure he directly went into broadcasting with MLB Network once he retired with the Jays.
