I can't see Pittsburgh agreeing to most of the proposals I've seen in this thread. There's no doubt they still think he's a Top Line Centerfielder...and will be looking to be compensated (or overcompensated) accordingly. As has been stated, the Jays are old...and need to get younger, more athletic, and more flexible. As good as Cutch would look in the OF for the next 2 years, is it really the best move for the organization?

But I think the point is that we'd rather not have to rely on that much luck to make the playoffs. Building a roster where you know you have a high chance of your players performing at a high level is what we all want. Not...'well...this guy has generally sucked or is injured half the time, but hey...this year might be different.'

I don't need Bautista back. What I do need though is that talent is added that keeps this team in the Championship conversation. But with each passing day I'm not sure how they're going to do that. On one hand, there's a clear message that the Farm System needs to be bolstered (ie. they value the 1st round compensation very highly). But on the other hand, they're putting themselves in a position where they'll be forced to trade young assets (prospects) to fill roster spots as the FA market is really dwindling. The worst thing that can happen is for this team to go half way...not good enough to contend, and not bold enough to go full rebuild.

Jays and Eddie's agent f***ed this up. Jays went in with a big offer early, knowing that it would get rejected. Kinzler overplayed his hand and rejected. Jays signed Morales right away and couldn't pull their offer to Eddie fast enough. Result. Bye bye Eddie.
