  1. OK. So Fowler is gone. Who's the next "obvious" target (not including Bautista)?
  2. I mentioned in my post that I understand that there are plenty of deals that don't work out. But does that mean you never take a chance? I guess it does.
  3. If that's the case then you need to really retool...cause they're caught in in-between land right now. They have some high priced talent...some youth...but no youth ready to step in and create additional cost efficient alternatives, and not enough money to pay for a higher level of talent where they have holes.
  4. I speaking in general terms as much as I'm talking about Fowler. I might do what the Cards did from a financial standpoint. I figure we'll have an extra pick or two with Edwin and Jose walking (not sure how Bautista will play out though). Not a fan of the full NTC. But I mean in general terms, when do you take that extra step and just lock someone up. So many people wanted to lock Andrew Miller up...and when he signed, a lot of people that it was a ridiculous contract. It's sure not that crazy today. I get that's just one example and there are plenty where the deal goes tits up, but I just wish there'd be a bit more risk taken here.
  5. I get that. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. But doesn't it feel like they're always coming up with a reason to say no. If you look hard enough you can find a problem with any deal. Just feels like they're trying to get the moon, the planets, and the sun to line up before the pull the trigger. I feel like the risk tolerance level here is very, very low.
  6. I hope to god you're wrong...but I fear you may be right. Let's wait until the spring. Whenever I have a bad gut feeling people get all butt hurt and tell me the sky is not falling and to wait...so let's wait and see what roster we have in April.
  7. That Fowler deal isn't a gross overpayment...not at all. If all you look for is making sure the value is there at all cost then you're gonna be stuck standing still forever.
  8. Ya. I hear his arm is solid...but I'm looking at it from the 'I've never seen these kinds of tools before' standpoint. Don't think his arm is to that level. Promising to hear that the bat has that kind of potential. What does everyone put the odds at that Vladdy starts the season in Lansing? 50/50?
  9. Tool(s)...plural? Hit and power? Cause it ain't the other 3.
  10. This regime/ownership group will never believe that overpaying will make sense...ever. Meh. Really...I'm kinda over it. I've been hoping for a long time that they'll be more aggressive in the FA market rather than just having to trade for everyone. I've stopped hoping. Why not spend some cash AND keep your prospects?
  11. I mean generally...with respect to FA's. We keep hoping that they'll sign this guy or that guy, but at the end of the day, aside from Russell Martin, which FA have they really locked up to a significant deal over the past.....I don't even know how many years? This team isn't a real player in the FA market, at least not any of the higher end guys...even though the Score would have you believe that they're in on pretty much everyone. Meh. Hope some of the second tier, value guys, work out.
  12. Must be nice to have money to throw around.
  13. Must be nice to have that kinda of money to throw around.
  14. Maybe not...but that completely guts your system for 2-3 seasons and making any other trades almost impossible.
  15. White Sox are doing the right thing. They'll be in good shape in 3-5 years.
  16. He's taking about the new collective agreement that's been discussed at length here.
  17. Is he going to start throwing with his right hand next year?
  18. Deadpool is right. That's a #missedopportunity
  19. Reminds of when JPR said Adam Dunn doesn't like baseball.
  20. I want to see Jose's reaction when he's asked if he took a home town discount.

Haven't heard any commentary yet. But it doesn't surprise me. People have been made so sensitive to any physical contact that they look to find issue with every hit. It's annoying. That was a very solid hit. Dude had his head down like a clown and Hall could've removed his head if he wanted, but he completely avoided contact with the head.
