The perception is that he's doing it with smoke and mirrors. I think a lot of people would like to see what he'd do if he had the stuff when he first came over. -
I'm curious where his velocity compares. For TJ, a lot of times the pitcher ends up throwing even harder? I do remember that Tommy John himself used to be a flame thrower...but was a soft tosser afterwards. I know Maness usually sits around 90 so that's possibly a reason he was a good candidate. It's not like he needs to get back up to 98 or anything. Being the first just means you're a guinea pig. I hope it works out great for him...but I'm worried that he may not be the same. Fingers crossed.

It just doesn't capture my imagination... At least not in this format. It's like this most recent World Cup of Hockey. No one gave a s***. But on a huge stage like the Olympics the stakes were sky high and there was built in importance.

Depends on what the goal is? If the goal is, field a competitive team in 2017 and be damned with the future, then I guess they would. But if they're looking to rebuild the core and have some young, controllable talent on the horizon, then no...you have to keep Junior and wait it out. For me, I keep him. I'd like to see a young core (Cubs) get built, and then augment that with veteran talent. I've been saying it for more than a decade. Built internally, then when you have a nice core established, bring in veteran leadership and talent to fill in some outstanding holes and round out the roster. -
I know it doesn't...but logically, 10-5 rights really shouldn't apply as he's technically a free agent now and has no affiliation with the Blue Jays. Why should the clock continue? I understand if he signed an extension before his contract expired, hence continuous service time with the team...but realistically, if he's not under contract with the team, why does the clock continue?

I fear that they'll hang around in in-between land, where they don't really commit to a complete sell-off and rebuild, but on the other hand, aren't really willing to commit to "go for it". -

I respectfully disagree. Vancouver and Ottawa are far far worse. Biggest whiny fanbase anywhere in this galaxy. Leafs fans are arrogant and cocky...but butthurt and insecure...I'm not sure I buy that.

They should get rid of OT altogether and just go right into shootouts. Maybe even ditch the whole game and just do shootouts for an hour. Everything would be over a lot faster and people could get home earlier. #shootouts #loveshootouts #f***off
