  1. The ending there was LAWL!
  2. Yeah, I'd at least have put half the starters in for one of those AAA squad games, IMO we played it too carefully there... but oh well, that was the risk Gibby took so we just gotta win our next two ourselves I guess.
  3. I'm wondering more about whether there's been top 3 RBI man in the league in the same team before... it's not too likely but we are close right now with JD and Bats at 1st and 2nd right now and Edwin is 4th behind Chris Davis.
  4. I personally can't see Buehrle coming off the pen. If he pitches at all I would think it would be as long relief, and as long relief Hendriks is a better choice. Buehrle doesn't have that much experience coming out of the bullpen, and is not much use vs. Lefties either since I believe he actually has reverse splits this year. I just can't see it being effective at all.
  5. Barry Davis talked to Ben Revere about the Blue Jays fans in away games... Revere says he notices them away from home, Atlanta Boston, especially New York... then Davis cuts him off and goes: "and Seattle?" ...Revere never got to play an away game at Seattle for the Jays, how the hell would he know that *facepalm*
  6. According to Buck, only the 15th win of his career. lol
  7. With Twins still in it I'd have to think that they'll play KC tough, especially since it'll be in Minnesota. I'd actually guess here that Minny will take two out of three from them. Rays won't exactly mail it in either I'm sure, and I doubt Archer will get rocked twice in a row by us, but they definitely won't be able to play us with the same intensity as Twins do vs Royals. It'll mostly depend on what kind of lineup/pitching we throw out there though, since from the sounds of it from Gibby it doesn't seem like we're serious about first overall and would rather use the time to rest guys.
  8. So it seems like KC has it well in hand tonight, we'll fall back into a tie for first overall. Hopefully Twins can play them tough starting tm.
  9. What did the Mets, Dodgers, KC, Cards, etc do with their lineup the day after they clinched though? Cuz I'm sure players in those teams got blasted as well. Did they go the same route as ours in fielding the AAA team? I get putting out the "league cup squad" (to anyone who knows Soccer well, heh) in the second game of the double header but I was real surprised when we did it again for today... that along with the selection of pitchers today after Hutch out of the pen it made it blatantly obvious that Gibby didn't give a rat's ass about winning today at all. And shutting down Price for the season IMO also kind of hints at the fact that they're not serious at all about being first overall, either. But I guess if that's the route they have elected to take, taking playing it safe rest of the way over risking it a bit to seriously go for first overall, then I guess let them be.
  10. As I said in the other thread I think rotating half of our starters for 2nd game yesterday and half today respectively would have been a wiser decision that would have gave us a better chance to win both. I get that our starters need rest and that we partied hard (but I don't think the other teams that clinched and partied did the same thing, did they?), and I was fine with Dickey going 5 yesterday, but I definitely didn't like this mailing it in with 100% AAA team thing either... definitely doesn't seem like something a team that is really interested in finishing first overall seed would do. Along with that Price decision (to not start him again this year) it does seem like Gibby is much more concerned about being cautious of injuries/resting guys, maybe even being too overcautious.
  11. I understand why it was done and all (players needing rest and big party last night, etc) but I'd much rather have preferred rotating a few of the starters in and out at a time instead of resting ALL of them at the same time like we did for past two games... IMO it was a bit extreme and perhaps overly cautious approach with 1st overall record still up for the taking.
  12. I'm actually very glad the game got rained out, now we should most likely be able to celebrate out in the field.
  13. With the countdown nearing the end, just wanted to post a link to an old classic that still sends shivers down my spine: I really miss that old TSN Blue Jays baseball theme... as well as Jim Hughson.
  14. One thing that annoys me a bit with the situation tonight is that if we win and Yankees lose again, then the decisive moment may come down to which of the two teams wins/loses first on the night. It could possibly mean that we might win first and Yankees might lose a bit later in the night, which would rob us of any kind of on-field celebration for the second straight time (we already didn't get one for the playoff clinch due to all the confusion over permutations, although the celebration wouldn't really have been big). If it does happen tonight then I wish that Yankees game finishes first. I know caring about this is a bit silly but I actually want to see our boys celebrate out on the field this time! (doing it in Baltimore makes it sweeter too).
  15. Reminded me of George Bell's final Exhibition Stadium walk off HR. Had that same storybook ending feel to it. Or even that Joe Carter walk off single vs. Angels to win the division in 1991. That was also the final home game that year IIRC.
  16. Thought it was pretty daring of him to sneak in that "You gonna pay for my dry cleaning for the suit now Jose?" during the locker room celebration after all that debacle between Bats and Sportsnet over that Travis Suit incident. At least Jose took it in stride and told him he might get him a new one.
  17. I kind of wished Gibbons waited until the beginning of the inning to give Buehrle the hook, so that he gets the big standing ovation on his way out of what is likely his final home start for the Jays, if not for his career. I guess it would have been awkward with us still being down in the ballgame though. But I guess if you see it another way, it may mean that Gibbons doesn't think this will be his final appearance here and still has a plan to use him in the Post season in whatever way it may be. Thought he actually pitched pretty well today, better than his past few starts for sure in terms of pitch quality and location. Had some bad luck too I feel like the bloop single and the wind carried 2-run HR.
  18. So Buehrle is at 191.1 innings now after his start today, I guess his 200 run stops here unless he gets a complete game in his final start due in Tampa... yeah, probably not happening unless we have everything clinched by then (division may be clinched by that point but probably not the first AL overall).
  19. Dear Toronto Blue Jays media people, please, PLEASE make a season review DVD for the 2015 season!!! The season is already such a success story that it's begging for one, and I'm 100% sure it would fly off the shelves! It may just become my favourite in my entire collection if you do.
  20. Thanks AA for staying away from that cancer near the deadline.
  21. JD is obvious player of the game with his defensive/offensive performance at the end there, but man, I think Smoak today deserves it almost as much as well, he's the one who kept us in this ballgame, loving his new approach of going with the ball the opposite way. Keep that up and the lineup becomes that much more of a threat in the playoffs.
  22. Someone please gif that slow mo of the close up of the HR swing, the Tampa catcher's reaction was priceless, his head sank right away LOL.
  23. So, me many pages ago: It wasn't Boxberger, but booyah!
  24. So, what's the nastiest... 1) Cecil curve 2) Rocket's splitter 3) Ward's slider Dat Cecil curve looks as nasty as the other two right now.
  25. Loving that opposite field stroke!!
