Yeah I know that's what you meant, I went off on a tangent, but it's just something that's kicked around in my mind for a few years that I've always wondered about.

I always wondered if it would be possible for one of the major sports League to allow players to be loaned. Sort of like they do in soccer. I don't think it's ever done within the same league in soccer but what if teams outside of a playoff spot can loan a star under contract beyond the current season for the rest of the season and get something back in return and then get the star player back at the end of the season to resume the contract? Obviously there would be risk involved in allowing a player under contract to play extra games for another team especially in the postseason but you are getting something in return. I know it's pie in the sky thinking, this will never happen but I wonder what that would look like.

Well the ugly Sox are in a weakened state and we don't have to face the big ace, but it's baseball, the truth is nobody f***ing knows. I see. But people have every right to be frustrated because the talent is clearly there to be great and it always comes in flashes. Besides we have every right to worry about the contract if it comes back to hurt this team's ability to compete. I don't care how much ownership spends, I want them to spend as much as possible, I do care if how they spend their money hamstrings the team. Especially for those who felt that trading him for other assets and using the money elsewhere was a better overall move. Besides, worrying about that does not preclude us worrying about any other poor investments. We have the ability to bitch about multiple things at the same time after all.

I figured he'd be out of the lineup regardless, clearly it really stung him and they want to give him a day or two. At least I hope that's all it is.

Couldn't watch the game, Gausman typically destroys when he pitches in Cleveland, good to see that's still true. It's a series win, Boston is also a winnable series. I see Guerrero was hurt, and Heiny, hopefully they're both okay.

He's not a long guy. He's never thrown more than two innings. On a back-to-back he might not even do two innings. I don't think we have a long guy today. It'll be patchwork if a Max doesn't last. Let's just hope that Max gives us innings.

Been a long time coming. I'm excited to see Max. Not expecting the ace he used to be obviously but I think he can still be very important. It may be a lot to expect that Max will be healthy and reasonably effective from here until the end of the season, but we can hope. The good news is that his innings will naturally be limited given the time he's missed and hopefully he can stay fresh. I'm sure they'll give him an extra day or two wherever the schedule permits. We've also managed to keep ourselves in a competitive position in the standings without him. But now we really need him, our rotation and bullpen both need him. Game on.

I really was not that troubled by the bullpen management today, I understood the logic he was trying to utilize, I might have swapped Schultz and Green, that's about the only difference. When the game became 6-1 there was no point in trying to force Fisher. He's become reliable and you might need him again tomorrow in higher leverage. He tried Fluharty in what was at that point a medium to low leverage situation to get him on track but he struggled. At that point you're trying to steal the last two outs without having to use a valuable arm figuring the worst case scenario is Green bombs and you still got the lead at least. It's a gamble. Green then bombed. Then you get the slam that brought the situation back to low leverage, you go to Schultz probably hoping he rides out the rest of the game but he threw a lot of pitches and was mediocre in one inning. So you decide you don't want to f*** around anymore and you put in a leverage arm for one inning to finish the game. All your leverage arms are still available for tomorrow. The only real cost of the game was 11 pitches by Rodriguez that you ideally would have liked to avoid. It's not disastrous.
