  1. Nah. Not with the options he has.
  2. Hallelujah! Granted, they have the back end of the bullpen that they don't have to push it. If Yankees had a Whitlock type to go to in that instance, pulling Fried would not be as much of a problem.
  3. This ridiculous new age thinking that 100 pitches is some maximum. Totally fake nonsense. They'd have been much better off letting Fried continue to pitch. He was cruising.
  4. Yikes!
  5. He'll face Duran.
  6. On one day of rest? That's nuts. I guess if they have no regard for his arm health.
  7. But they've said no surgery and no structural damage. So it's probably pain and swelling
  8. Crochet and the back of that pen though. That can hand them two wins right there. I don't know. I don't have a rooting interest. Just hope they beat on one another.
  9. So you're rooting for the Sox?
  10. I think they will take whatever they can out of his bat. He's one of the few guys in all of baseball that can hit good pitching, and the one thing you're going to see in the postseason is a lot of good pitching.
  11. Yeah, I know. It hurts I'm sure.
  12. I'm not sure who has uglier fans, NY or Boston.
  13. What happens when Kirk gets on base? What happens when Stanton gets on base? You deal with it because you love the bat. If he has to be pinch run, you do it later in the game.
  14. Tin foil hatted to suggest free agency is playing a role? There is nothing more based in absolute reality. People get too romantic about their athletes, there's no question these conversations are happening between him, his agent and his family, including his dad. To think otherwise is not living in reality.
  15. Would it? If it's just pain? Bo can get hits with his upper body alone. He was barely running for any speed prior to the injury so not much lost there. Kirk Gibson hit a home run off Eckersley with NO legs under him. I'll take a one and a half legged Bo Bichette any day.
  16. Maybe. Nobody here really knows for sure. I do firmly believe his father is in his ear making sure to give him Sage advice as a former major leaguer. Making sure he keeps perspective on what's best for him and his future as he heads into free agency. There's no structural damage apparently, no need for surgery, but playing through pain is risky, you could end up hurting yourself worse by favouring the knee with that pain. There's no way free agency is not playing on his mind. That's all I'm saying.
  17. That's especially expected in game 1's. Pretty much nothing but aces and rested ace relievers.
  18. I wonder how many casuals tuned in wondering, "how the hell is this fatass a baseball player?" And now they are all Kirk fans.
  19. Or maybe he sees those free agent dollars flashing before his eyes🤑
  20. While I don't think the Blue Jays will overthink themselves with games one and two, the only caveat I can see is do they really want to start Yesavage on the road at Yankees stadium or Fenway? They are already asking a lot of this kid, but for that to be his major league playoff debut in only his fourth big league game is really pushing it. Especially since it will either be an elimination game or the all-important swing game. I wouldn't necessarily be shocked to see Trey get game two at home and then Bieber gets the first road game. It still gives you Gausman for a potential game 5 and Bieber to start the next series. Like you said there are options, but I just don't believe they'll do the three game rest thing especially since it's probably not really necessary.
  21. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. The only way to pitch them twice is Gausman or Bieber pitch game 1 and on three days of rest for game 4. Zero chance in my mind, especially since you won't have either available for game 1 of the LCS and given the concerns they have clearly shown for adequate rest between outings for both of them. Why do that when you can roll out an effective bullpen game like you did against the Red Sox even if they don't want to start Bassitt? Lauer has been one of our best pitchers. A bullpen game with him being a bulk reliever is a perfect way to use him.
  22. Gausman and Bieber won't both pitch twice in a 5 game series. It would require the game one pitcher to pitch on three days rest and they are not going to do that with either one of these guys. If anything they prefer to pitch these guys with more rest, Bieber coming off of major surgery and Gausman because of velocity issues related to rest. Besides Gausman and even Bieber right now are not at the level where pitching them is any better than a bullpen game. Neither of them is a Crochet or Skubal.
  23. I don't think they would go this far. Bassitt's road numbers are highly skewed by two really bad games he had, one especially against Boston. It's not like he hasn't pitched well on the road at all even if he still has been a better home pitcher. I think games 1 and 2 will be exactly who we expect. I think where it gets interesting is games 3 and 4. Will they use an opener for one or both games? Will one of them be a full bullpen game? Do they trust Yesavage to be a starter or bulk guy for one of those games? What role, if any, does Scherzer play? Would you rather give more innings to Lauer over Bassitt? I personally think Yesavage starts game 3, or is the bulk guy after an opener. Game 4 is the biggest question mark to me.
  24. His last four postseason starts: 14.1 IP, 18H, 7ER, 6HR, 11K, 5BB, two wild pitches and a hit batter. Then of course there's his most recent struggles as his ongoing struggles with the long ball. Father time is undefeated, you're romanticizing him instead of dealing with reality.
