  1. We don't know what they would get back until we see what they would get back, but you got to do the best you can at this point, what's the alternative? The market rate for an extension seems to be something that they're not comfortable with, you can't just let him walk after the year and I feel waiting for the deadline is fraught with peril. There's no other path left to travel here. Merely prolonging the inevitable.
  2. This seems really easy to me, I don't know why this is so complicated, you have to trade him. That's the simple answer. Signing him to the kind of contract he's looking for is something they obviously are not going to do, nor should they do. Losing him for nothing is utterly ridiculous, that option cannot be entertained. Trading him at the deadline makes no sense because if they're in a wild card race it'll look horrible on the organization to trade him, but you can't lose him for nothing I don't care if they are in a wild card race. Thus, you have to trade him and it has to be this offseason. There's every chance you get more value out of the pieces you get back, especially for the money you will be saving. Same goes for Bo. I still think you can get more than pennies on the dollar for him, he had a consistent run of all star success outside of one injury plagued season. It seems even more certain that they're unlikely to sign him so trade him too. Pull off the f***ing Band-Aid already.
  3. Absolute dumbest base runner I've ever seen in my entire life. Doesn't care enough to ever change and plays for a limp dick organization that would never punish him for it.
  4. There really wasn't much risk in either of those deals. Robbie Ray for a nothing prospect and a one-year prove-it contract. Only upside with those deals, very little downside.
  5. People overplay all this stuff. They don't care. They care about weather to an extent, yes, but unless it's an active warzone, it's all the same to them. They live in safe places they get from place to place in their car, and only go to the ballpark or other largely nice, safe, higher end places in the community. Any regular city weirdness they encounter they shrug off like we all do. There's weirdness everywhere.
  6. Recruiting Vlad for the Dodgers.
  7. Opera does. But I'll give your suggestion a shot and see how it goes.
  8. I'm not angry at Atkins for not signing them, I'm angry that they're waiting too long to make a decision one way or the other. Speaking of audacity, you have to be audacious as a GM and have the balls to pick a path on big decisions and go with it. It should not come down to their final year. Both of them should have been settled by now, and should be settled no later than opening day. It's like the mistake the Raptors made with Pascal Siakam last year.
  9. LOL, what? I obviously missed this, sounds completely hilarious though.
  10. It might be 90% true that I'll be bouncing Sydney Sweeney's funbags tonight. Stay tuned.
  11. I use the opera browser so I don't know what any of this is.
  12. He doesn't put a single butt in any seat unless it's friends and family. If this team seriously intends on going through the season with an unsigned Vlad or, to a lesser extent, Bo on this mediocre team it's a fireable offense. Either lock them up or trade their asses.
  13. Or we can just not do that. That would have worked too.
  14. Bingo! I don't feel any real way about this but general numbness.
  15. Nah, I'm convinced it's the whole metric thing.
  16. I think it really is about the money, it's an ego play. Nobody can possibly project 15 years of who will be more competitive between two very rich New York teams. But perhaps the willingness to spend is also symbolic. The Mets seem more willing right now to blow their brains out spending.
  17. Now would absolutely be the time!
  18. Yankees are still the Yankees. New York, LA and soon to be Las Vegas, those are glam destinations. It won't change anytime soon. Yankees might not always win the top FA anymore, but they will continue to be a player.
  19. It's shortsighted. Free agency is best utilized for finishing touches not rebuilding your team on the fly with high dollar contracts for players going into their 30s. It will ultimately set the team back and make the path to actual winning that much longer. I have no problem signing low risk/high reward contracts, maybe guys coming off of injuries. If it works out they're movable at the deadline for more assets to build going forward. That should be our free agency play.
  20. Hopefully the market will protect the Jays from themselves. Their whole plan of action here is so stupid and short-sighted.
  21. Civil discourse is very difficult these days. I personally don't adhere to a wing. I have my own independent thoughts on each issue, but the tribalism people subscribe to now is weird. Some nutquacks become angry and threatening. I can understand any message board administration not wanting that responsibility. Especially on a pro sports board.
  22. Absolutely. There is no comparison between Witt and Vladdy. Witt is already a far better player and his growth has been on a steep incline. He almost has to come down a bit because it's hard to be much better. I'd lock him up also.
  23. Baseball offseason is not baseballing enough. Got to fill the dead air with something.
  24. The majority of Torontonians are still sane and rational people. Just certain parts of old Toronto, and some young people, especially white chicks, they tend to be the woke saviours. They have some sort of weird complex.
  25. He's plus sized and he's beautiful on the inside.
