  1. He's done a great job, but we really need to abuse Jackson for another inning and send him down for a fresh arm.
  2. Springer absolutely butchered that
  3. I would love to hear what Whiskey Pete said to get tossed lol
  4. This won't be a popular opinion, but Guerrero should be hitting leadoff. Vlad is near the league lead in GIDP every year and his negative baserunning value reflects that. And Vlad's foot speed is actually fringe average despite his body shape. Reducing his GIDPs and boneheaded baserunning decisions and I honestly think he could add 0.5 WAR alone. And he's not so slow that he'll clog the basepaths for the run producers. Guerrero R Bichette R Belt L Springer R Chapman R Varsho L Kirk/Jansen R Merrifield R Kiermaier L Vlad loses less baserunning value and he gets protection from Bichette so he swings at less garbage. Your best hitters are still getting the most ABs. Belt, Varsho, and Kiermaier are less exposed to lefty relievers. Management loves making weird batting orders so you know they'll be on board.
  5. Doubles are a good rule of thumb for projecting future power, but typically in your early 20s/teens. Leo Jimenez might have some more power in his bat, whereas Orelvis Martinez has probably maxed out on power. Spencer Horwitz will likely never hit for power. And these days I'm sure front offices use batted ball metrics to project power.
  6. The pressure of being the modern day Jackie Robinson has finally gotten to him.
  7. 90% of his jersey is covered in sweat. To be fair the weather could be gross in Detroit.
  8. That team had the best run differential in baseball by a huge margin. This current team could add Ohtani and Trout at the deadline and still not be as strong as that 2015 team.
  9. Mayza for Benintendi, then use Pearson to finish the game.
  10. This current team isn't anywhere near the quality of that team. That 2015 squad was the best team in baseball.
  11. What an unusual game. All's well that ends well.
  12. Yimi is the type of guy to give up 4 straight singles after going 0-2 on each batter.
  13. Devil Rays baseball, Joe Madden era.
  14. Extra innings double header with Manoah going tomorrow. Not ideal.
  15. He struck out but Biggio looks so much more comfortable against velo.
  16. Realistically moving forward we have one roster slot for one of Cimber, Green, or Pop. If they decide to upgrade the pen it would likely be an elite arm, preferably a lefty to share the load with Mayza. We could also upgrade the rotation, ideally with at least a #3 level SP. This would allow us to put Kikuchi in the pen during the playoffs where he would be a weapon. Realistically, the best chance we'll have to upgrade is a lefty mashing outfielder which should be way cheaper than an elite RP or SP. I would sit one or both of Varsho/Kiermaier against LHP until the team starts hitting. Their defence is elite but it doesn't matter when we're getting shut out. Guys like Tommy Pham, Rob Refsneyder, or maybe a guy like Victor Robles really shouldn't break the bank.
  17. He's always been more outspoken compared to a typical neutral broadcaster like Schulman. Back when Montoyo was managing Sidal could barely hide his disgust.
  18. My understanding is that his stuff keeps ticking up as he fills out. His age is a serious blemish but he lost a lot of development time with the pandemic and TJS. They must really love his stuff.
  19. Puzzling move from an outside perspective, especially when they didn't need the 5th SP slot. I can only speculate that they identified a major flaw in the pitching lab and are very confident in his mechanics moving forward.
  20. Yes possibly. Of the major sports, some contenders are Bo Jackson making All Star teams in two different sports in the same year Deion Sanders for similar reasons. At one point he nearly played a professional football game and baseball game in the same day both at a star level Babe Ruth when he out homered entire teams and ended the dead ball era Steph Curry single handedly changing the NBA At this level I wouldn't even include all time great seasons like Barry Bonds, Michael Jordan, and Wayne Gretzky. Those were essentially the peak of GOAT players but didn't transform the way we think about sports like the above examples.
  21. Awesome job but Vlad needs to stop standing still at home plate admiring his hits.
  22. Ohtani's value is underrated because his value is compressed into a single roster spot. He honestly might be more valuable than roided up Barry Bonds.
