  1. I'm not a collector and so didn't enter the draw. But this whole lottery and points thing for perks like this won't help renewals for those with less than great seats.
  2. Alex had a trade in place for Kinsler 3 years ago which Kinsler (reportedly) vetoed.
  3. Re the neighbour effect How much of that has to do with the Jays now having an official partnership with StubHub? Before, to resell tickets, one had to take some initiative to set up that stuff online (which hardcore oldtime fans probably didn't bother with.) But now, the new regime has turned every STH into a potential "scalper" by encouraging them, and making it so easy for them, to list their tickets on StubHub ... and so oldtimers, who never before entertained the idea of reselling their seats online, are now tempted to do so with a simple click from their Blue Jays account.
  4. yeah, diminishing optimism/excitement for the 2018 team will be (I think) the main reason for fewer tickets being sold. for the recent mid-week 4 gamer against two last place teams, the average crowd at Rogers Centre was 42+! (and these were so-called category "C" games.) safe to say these tickets to see the Jays & A's were presold long long ago when there was still a buzz around the team.
  5. how many seats would you guess are currently held by STHs? if prices are going up 7-17% for season tickets, then there'll be some kind of corresponding increase for fans who buy flex packs and individual game tickets and so I don't think a 10k drop in attendance for those less desirable weeknight April/May games in 2018 is unrealistic.
  6. smallest crowd this season - 29k smallest, next season? ... 19k?
  7. the Jays are going to draw, what? ... 3.2 or 3.3M fans this season? anybody wanna hazard a guess what that'll be next season with ... less Jays' optimism overall ... price increases ... and the Maple Leafs potentially playing for a few more weeks in the Spring? #culltheherd
  8. Well, I clearly was wrong...thinking that there wouldn't be yet another year of significant across the board price increases during (what looks like) a disappointing season. My premium dugout seats go up 17%.
  9. Approximately how many STHs do you think there currently are? (the lowest crowds at the Rogers Centre this season have been 29K for 5 games) And how many STHs would you estimate are brokers?
  10. With the Blue Jays now having an official partnership with StubHub ... and ads for StubHub in Rogers Centre ... and actual encouragement from the Jays to their STHs to sell their unused tickets on StubHub with a simple click from their online Jays account etc. ... the Jays would now hunt down those subscribers who do just that? How many games would one have to sell for them to deem you a scalper?
  11. great post. yeah, I would've been more critical in the survey and in the open comments section if my submission was anonymous.
  12. My expectation is that next year's prices will pretty much stay the same (maybe some minor tinkering here or there) if the Jays continue to have a disappointing season ... I wasn't seriously expecting a reduction across the board. Re the bold part: a couple of weeks ago the Jays sent out a survey to its STHs asking them (among other things) whether they were going to renew for next year ... so they'll have a general idea of what to expect. For me, the most interesting question on the survey was whether we wanted Saturday home games to start at 1:07, 4:07 or 7:07 pm. I prefer 4:07. What about you guys?
  13. that's not Vic Carapazza.
  14. unless the Jays make an exciting playoff push in the "second half," then renewals probably will be down somewhat and so i'd be surprised if there are any price increases.
  15. if the Blue Jays continue to be disappointing, then the price of next year's season tickets surely will fall as some (many?) of the current STHs fall by the wayside ... right?
  16. maybe the early bird renewal for season tickets will start during the all star break?
  17. besides those STHs who are actual fans but may sell a handful of games during the season, I see ... by looking at StubHub (and you'd know better than me - based on your handle) ... that the same (approx) 7000 seats (held by STHs) are listed on StubHub for every game. So how many of those pure ticket broker dudes will bail on some of their less than stellar season tickets as well?
  18. if this season continues to be disappointing, I wonder what percentage of season tickets won't be renewed? would be interesting to know the number of new STHs since the Tulo/Price trade deadline and how many of them fall by the wayside if the season continues to be a write-off.
  19. would be fun to see Montreal get a team in the next few years ... and they're put in the AL East ... and they hire Alex as Prez or GM ... and then there's a mano a mano showdown between the two regimes ... not just as divisional rivals but also, perhaps, for the hearts of any Canadian baseball fans who have flexible loyalties.
  20. isn't 10 years for a rebuild a tad long? would Rogers even have patience with Shapiro (and extend him) if attendance dwindled and tv viewership nosedived for a number of seasons?
  21. wasn't the general consensus on this board that the FO had a good offseason (one year too many for Morales aside?)
  22. nobody told Pearce that there's no crying in baseball?
  23. yeah, and who would've preferred that AA didn't sign Martin and didn't do the Tulo deal?
  24. could also look at it like ... most pick the Red Sox to win the division and we're 4 back of them with 19 games left between us (and 150 left on the sched.) edit : 152 left (haha)
  25. so the board consensus for the 2017 Blue Jays was something like 89 wins and a 2nd WC birth, and after two times thru the rotation, it's turned to blow it up haha
