  1. to who? the Argos draw barely 14 k fans.
  2. so Rogers (as part of MLSE) now owns the Argos ... hmm
  3. that's my point ... the WC doesn't look promising ... but the FO is publicly saying that the Jays are contenders, so who is the fall guy if the season goes off the rails?
  4. Why did Rogers hire Shapiro? What does Rogers regard as Shapiro's #1 responsibility as President and CEO of the Blue Jays? Is it to make $? Do Rogers and Shapiro have different visions about how to make $?
  5. Of course it wouldn't be Gibby's fault. The Jays will either contend for the playoffs or be also-rans based on the talent on the team and their health. But since Shatkins is selling a contender to the fans (Atkins: yes, the Yankees have Stanton but Smoak is "phenomenal" and Tulo is "phenomenal" etc.) then Gibbons will be the easy scapegoat if the team is simply not good enough to win.
  6. I doubt that Gibbons will be the manager of the Blue Jays on opening day in 2019 ... unless they win a WC this season. If the Jays are well below .500 by the trade deadline again, then I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Gibby is fired this summer.
  7. I guess that watching batting practice whenever the Yankees are in town will be quite the spectacle.
  8. I'm not a gambling dude. I just posed the question because I don't think that the record is too far out of reach for them. Stanton may have had his career year but a chance to mash in AL East cozy parks provides some hope for more taters to come. And Judge's rookie year probably won't be his best. But for them both to be absolute beasts during the same season would be so incredibly rare ... well not since Maris & Mantle.
  9. My question about potentially challenging the record for home runs by teammates was for any future season together in NY, not strictly for the 2018 season only ... is that what your bet is about too?
  10. Will Stanton & Judge top Maris & The Mick's mark for most home runs by teammates in a season? (115 in '61)
  11. well at least the Jays had a short 2-3 year window before the Yankees became a powerhouse again. lol
  12. Good. Want to watch as much Hall of Fame talent playing in the Skydome/Rogers Centre as frequently as possible.
  13. I'm glad that he's in the AL.
  14. yeah, and also the size of the payroll gap between the Jays and the Yankees & Red Sox is also relevant since we, obviously, compete in the same division ... and Toronto's bean counters don't want it any other way with all those extra home premium games against the duo marquee Evil Empires.
  15. too bad John Candy isn't around to be part of an ownership group.
  16. I'd like to see Cuban run against Trump.
  17. So if Ohtani is going to kill the Jays, then I guess we're going to need players who will kill the Yankees & Red Sox ... unless content to cede the division most years (unless we fluke into it) and just settle for battling for a wildcard.
  18. I think that the Yankees will change their rule for him.
  19. Maybe i'm alone in not minding if the Yankees sign Ohtani and the Red Sox (say) acquire Stanton? I want to see the biggest stars in the game playing against the Blue Jays as much as possible ... assuming, of course, that the Jays don't land them. That's also why i'd like to see Harper in pinstripes next year. Edit: next year meaning in 2019
  20. Adam Hagerman btw were you successful in upgrading the location of your seats?
  21. I just learned that my Account Executive who I've had for many years "is no longer with the organization."
  22. did you buy 20 games or 12?
  23. The too many games to sell predicament would be mitigated somewhat if Rogers Centre wasn't so cavernous. Tickets in, say, a 35 K Progressive Field in T.O. would be easier to unload. Wonder whether Shapiro's renovation plans will reduce the dome's seating capacity (for baseball) significantly?
  24. Wow, 1/3 non-renewal (if accurate) is huge. Must've been quite the tough season for sellers on StubHub.
  25. so did all you STHs on here renew before the deadline yesterday for the early bird price? I waited for the last day to "send a message" (haha) since i'm not looking to upgrade my seats.
