  1. That should always be the litmus test for an adult. Always prioritize things that make you feel like a kid on Christmas morning!
  2. I'd forgotten how giddy and excited I get on opening day. Masters starts this week...its a great time of year!
  3. At least we have a couple of guys who have been successful closers in the past to hold us over...
  4. It's Opening Day boys...enjoy it. Opening day. All you have to do is say the words and you feel the shutters thrown wide, the room air out, the light pour in. In baseball, no other day is so pure with possibility. No scores yet, no losses, no blame or disappointment. No hangover, at least until the game's over. You always get a special kick on opening day, no matter how many you go through. You look forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen. People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too. It's like Christmas, except it's warmer. An Opener is not like any other game. There's that little extra excitement, a faster beating of the heart. … You know that when you win the first one, you can't lose 'em all.
  5. Spats - you can make a thread whenever you want you beautiful bastard!
  6. wRC+ of about 125 vs. RHP over the past 3 years with the cubs. Don't look at his #'s with the Ad's.. .they hurt the eyes.
  7. Jays sign Chris Coglan to a minor league deal. He will report to AAA. Coglan and Upton make a pretty nice platoon in LF
  8. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-2017-staff-predictions/ fangraphs picks
  9. WBC injury! As a fan - this is too bad. He seemed to be throwing as good as he ever had. Big loss for the M's in a tight division.
  10. But how can you put a price on the leadership and intangibles he brings to the diamond? Maybe he doesn't pee on people either. That's worth a lot to some people.
  11. Meh - I'm just a little sensitive to how sensitive people are. Pranks are inappropriate behavior. That's the fundamental premise behind a good prank. Society seems destine to outlaw everything because some small % of the population gets offended - and then expects someone else to police that activity. To then go on about how you'd get fired or arrested if you did those things at work? c'mon. There's a laundry list of things which are perfectly normal and part of the locker room culture, which you obviously can't do at work (or outside the locker room). We've banned all pink backpacks from MLB. What a f***ing joke. What if you actually like the colour pink (it was my wedding colour FWIW)? Like seriously, we ban pink backpacks from baseball - yet we allow religion to remain? Stupid. FWIW - I do think s***ing in the chili is crossing the line. But you guys are assuming a lot. Nobody said he s*** in the chili, nor did they say anyone actually ate the chili. They said he s*** on a cake once (which is super gross, but obviously everyone sees the s*** and doesn't eat the cake) and thus someone assumed that might be what he did to the chili. For all we know, he told someone not to eat the chili with a smirk on his face and that blew up into an urban legend. Baseball is a super long season. I'm all for guys having a little fun with each other throughout the year.
  12. The best is how they now offer the 59fifty low crown hats....
  13. I take offense to that BTS. That's unacceptable behavior. If you said that to me at work, you could be fired or charged/arrested for mocking my sexual fetishes.
  14. Sorry man, but you sound like you're the guy leading the petition to have initiation pranks banned from high school and university. Is the Jays tradition of having a rookie reliever carry around a pink knapsack all year bullying too? Noting the pranks are unacceptable behavior and comparing them to a real life job came off as SJW work to me. boys + men on sports teams have been pranking each other since the dawn of time. If you don't like it, or think the guy crossed the line, you punch him in the face and move on - or you prank him back.
  15. Did you miss the part where he was a serial liar who would make things up just to get a rise out of people? I don't doubt he tainted the chili, but with pranksters - you never know. Pissing on people in the shower has been a locker room antic since the dawn of time man. Don't get all SJW.
  16. That's awesome. I loved this comment: Bacon, I had a buddy I played ball with who went to high school with his daughter. He met Greg for the first time at pictures before a dance, and asked him for some baseball advice. Greg told him “Throwing a change-up is a lot like fingering a girl. You’ve gotta try a bunch of different grips and angles, but once you get it right, it’s lethal.” That’s a helluva piece of knowledge
  17. LOL - that's amazing.
  18. Napoli for $8.5M? Barf.
  19. Probably not. You have to be able to throw to play in the CFL. He might have been able to turn himself into a decent TE if he committed to that.
  20. I don't know how you describe LF and 1st base as horrible situations without acknowledging that Pearce should fill one of those spots - and he's not horrible, he's really good. If you're ignoring Pearce because you're concerned he can't play a full season - then you should add 2nd base into the list of "horrible situations".
  21. Maybe it's a check swing...
  22. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/taijuan-walker-springs-most-improved-starter/ There's a picture of the 10 bone spurs they removed from Walker's ankle this offseason. That's kinda nasty.
  23. Remember when he was a sure-fire HOFer? Unfortunately it's been hard to watch over the past 3 years.
