  1. Could be....but even with his great season he's having, his career wRC+ is only 112. Same as Morales. I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole (based on what I think he'll get).
  2. This should help him secure more gold gloves for his spectacular defense... His FB% is now at 22 on the year, which is a career low (GB% is at 53.5 on the year). Good luck to whoever is going to give him a big contract this offseason. He's done a remarkable job of alternating good and bad season also: Year: wRC+, WAR 2011: 113, 1.0 2012: 80, -1.7 2013: 120, 3.2 2014: 98, 0.0 2015: 124, 3.4 2016: 102, -0.2 2017: 141, 4.1
  3. I was noticing this morning that Lindor has really embraced the fly ball revolution himself. His FB% is in the low 40's now (after being in the high 20's the previous 2 years). He's now up to 29 hrs on the year - however, it hasn't made him tangibly better overall. His BABIP has dropped a lot (as one would expect) and his wRC+ is only at 114, which is below his career mark. He's really the first player I can remember who hasn't benefited from this new philosophy.
  4. Words cannot express the value you bring to this board Spats. Thanks. I now have a book to go read.
  5. It's like your making fun of the handicapped kid who can't do long division man. Not cool.
  6. Apparently Sanchez has a finger ligament strain... Mildly makes him sound like less of a pussy than being out for the rest of the season with a blister...
  7. I did. I saw a couple of .790 OPS seasons in AA and AAA at age 20 and 21. I mean that's not awful by any means. I guess he had a good power/speed combo with elite defense. His bat just ended up being Jose Iglesias in the majors.
  8. What were the scouts smoking when they ranked Alex Gonzalez the 5th and 8th best prospect in baseball? I guess projected his bat to catch up with his great defense. He would have ranked high on the best looking Jays list - but that's about it. Who's Joe Silva? searched his name on fangraphs and came up blank.
  9. I'd love to see the Jays get Joc
  10. um. Because I'm not his son.
  11. Well aren't you on a tirade. AA found and exploited loop holes in two different CBA's. He was successfully able to stockpile compensation picks and then was one of the first to draft 5 year college players in the middle rounds for next to nothing, so he could use the extra cash to overpay for HS players. When people talk about his ability to re-stock the farm, they are typically referring the creative way he amassed extra high draft picks and/or highly ranked players. At the time, his approach was significantly better to that used by JP Riccardi. A lot of draft picks fail (regardless of who the GM is), but I think AA deserves some credit.
  12. An old guy at my work calls nearly everyone "my son". It's weird. I call him Dad now.
  13. Remove the Top 2 prospects from any team (not named the White Sox) and the list is going to look significantly worse.
  14. I get that. I thought Warmouth was a short little slab hitter (although I see Fangraphs lists him at 6'0 190 lbs) and thus it seemed odd he's put on a laser show in BP. Then again, I do recall people raving about the HR's that Ichiro would hit in BP...my conclusion is Warmouth = Ichiro. Awesome.
  15. Often it's not what the prospects become, it's what their value is at the time when they were traded and what the return was. Most were upset that they traded prospects (with perceived value) for declining veterans with back loaded, expensive contracts - when those same prospects potentially could have been used to get more cost controlled, valuable assets. Also - you're suggesting that everyone knew Syndergaard would become one of the best pitchers in baseball, while nobody should be upset we traded Norris or Hoffman is pretty ignorant. We also dealt Anthony DeSclafani, who's a good pitcher, yet wasn't listed.
  16. That's an odd thing to hear from a guy rocking an ISO of like .118 on the season. Does he reenact the last scene in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat or something?
  17. Does it really matter how it gets scored in the book. 5-3, 4-3, 4.5-3. Who gives a s***?
  18. Why do specific positions matter? (outside of fantasy baseball) The premise of the game is to get the batter out. Moving players into positions that optimizes your ability to do that is common sense frankly.
  19. It would seem if he could improve his blocking, he could challenge Posey for the best catcher in baseball.
  20. Shift story....I found it interesting http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/is-the-lemahieu-shift-the-boldest-one-ever/
  21. That kid can throw it though.
  22. Sept. call ups include Richard Urena, Teoscar Hernandez, Michael Saunders, Maile and I think I'm missing someone else.
  23. Is the uptick in velocity because they are measuring velocity differently now? I'm still extremely unclear on how that's been dealt with. Verlander has 3 WAR this year - same as Stro. I think he'd be a great addition to any team that could afford to add him. Owed $56M on a 2 year committement for his age 35 and 36 year seasons? That's not bad if it could put you over the top. He only has to give you about 6 WAR and you're into surplus value.
  24. I think that's fair. I mean a lot of us sacrifice money in our everyday lives - even when that money would actually make a difference. The you'll have a hard time convincing me there's a significant difference between $150M and $180M. I mean that might reduce the # of family members you can payroll for the rest of their lives, but in the players world, it can't matter much....certainly nowhere near as much as it would for one of us to take a $10K cut to live closer to home or something.
