  1. FWIW, Blair said tonight on Bobcat's show that: 1. The Jays are heavily in on CC. He expects CC to sign with the Yanks or the Jays. CC and Shapiro are close and the Jays believe they need someone to mentor Stroman to tone down the douche. 2. He gets the impression the Jays are open to trading Bo Bichette and that some in the organization question how his power will translate. He said the Jays would have to give up Bo + for Yelich. 3. He gets the impression the Jays aren't shopping JD. He'll be a Blue Jay this year - only flipped at the deadline if we aren't in the race. I hate Jeff Blair, but there you go. #1 + #3 seems realistic, #2, not so much.
  2. The best part is my 7 year old just asked for a Marlin's hat for Christmas (which we ordered). I have no idea why he wanted it (he also asked for a Houston Astros's WS championship hat). He may now be their only fan.
  3. When will your Top 147 Blue Jays Prospect List be available?
  4. Yelich is like Hosmer in that a swing adjustment may make him even more valuable. He still hits 55% of balls into the ground - making it all the more impressive he's able to provide 4.5 WAR a year. I'd give up Bo or Pearson if needed to get him without a second thought.
  5. Although there's a strong possibility this trade reflects the inability of the Marlin's FO to properly valuing assets.....I think there's also a chance that people around baseball do not believe last year was a true reflection of Ozuna's abilities. If most see him closer to the 2 WAR player he was in 2015 + 2016, then this return makes a lot more sense.
  6. Who's this guy impersonating Todd?
  7. A's are getting Steven Piscotty it looks like.
  8. The reality is Mark Shapiro is the President and CEO of the Blue Jays. His job responsibilities include more than simply building a world series team. You can choose to ignore that (and pretend it is an intellectual exercise with no fans) - but it's true. We don't know if Rogers is meddling or if Mark simply believes that a full tear down - with no regard for the fans - isn't what's best for the franchise long-term. I find it incredibly foolish to generating a strong opinion (of anything) based on those comments. Although it's a very candid statement, we are all truly ignorant on the matter.
  9. Did Shatkins suggest it was Rogers holding them back? I think there's a chance the FO themselves believe this approach may be the correct one.
  10. What do you mean? Essentially every player you're thinking of trading is less valuable right now than they were this time one year because they have less control. The only guy who I think now has more value is Smoak. Sleep walking through a lost season just cost this franchise significantly.
  11. If he ever needed TJS, I think you could DH him well before he's available to pitch again....
  12. I think there's a decent chance they sign Todd Frazier back to play 3rd. I doubt he's going to get more than a 1 or 2 year deal. Playing in the NYY lineup would be a great way to rebuild value on a 1 yr deal
  13. I wouldn't mind signing Seung Hwan Oh. He shouldn't cost a lot and there's a chance he rebounds significantly.
  14. You just love disagreeing with me eh?
  15. He's obviously had a better track record than Garcia - but most of the value he's had previously was based on good base running and defense - both of which dropped of significantly last year. He was a league average bat until the outburst last year. I'm just saying there's still a lot of risk if last year was an outliner offensively. My point started with the suggesting that we'd have to give up Vlad Jr. to get him.....keep that one in mind. I agree he's a great get at the right price, but that price doesn't include Vlad, Bo or Alford IMO. Too much risk that 2015 and 2016 (avg WAR < 2.0) are true reflections of his talent.
  16. And trading for Schimpf has absolutely nothing to do with that.
  17. http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/12/media/nfl-network-sexual-harassment-marshall-faulk-warren-sapp/index.html There go the former NFL stars...who's next? I love the part where Warren Sapp sent the wardrobe stylist sex toys for Christmas - 3 years in a row.
  18. They traded for a guy who hit .158 last year and thus must be moving their franchise player? Did the trade of Gift Ngoepe also suggest the Jays were traded JD?
  19. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/carlos-beltran-was-everything-a-player-could-be/ Good article on Carlos Beltran. I enjoyed the read and really enjoyed watching Beltran throughout his career. He's a HOFer in my books.
  20. f*** that s***. I already have enough pent up rage for Ontario Teachers. I don't need them ruining our baseball team too.
  21. Funny thing is - if we got Ozuna with Prado at some decent price that didn't sacrifice the future (b/c the Marlins truly are desperate to dump $$) and then added another SP (say Lance Lynn) + a reliever (maybe a lefty - McGee) and got a but of luck health wise - we probably could compete next year. 2nd - Travis 3rd - JD 1st - Smoak RF - Ozuna DH - Morales C - Martin SS - Tulo LF - Teoscar CF - Pillar B - Prado, Diaz Stro, Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Lynn with Osuna, McGee, Barnes, Tepera, etc. in the pen That's not a bad team at all. I'm not saying that's what they should do, or that they wouldn't have to sell wayyyy too much to get Ozuna, but a good GM isn't going to simply shut the door on the possibility that this team could compete next year.
  22. Jesus man - don't jump off the deep end. You have no idea what Shatkins did or didn't do. They probably just called about him - which is their job. Don't get all judgy judgy.
  23. What? really? For me - Ozuna is a slightly better version of Avisail Garcia. He was a league average hitter until the breakout last year and his base running and defense is only going to get worse. Like Garcia - I have to think FO's will see through that and he won't fetch a massive package.
  24. The O's were obviously impressed by the Mark Trumbo colouring book they received last year - so there's always hope. Maybe Boras added some pop-ups this year - everyone loves pop-ups!
