    I tend to agree with that Laika. Happy to see better preparation and the added technology being used.

    The reality is our philosophy hasn't actually changed that much. We're still a team the values the ability to make contact and put the ball in play. We're actually just better at it this year than we were in 2023/24 (reduced K%). Our team ISO in 2025 is .164 and it was .161 in 2023 when everyone complained we'd sacrificed far too much power/offense for defense... Obviously it feels like big changes were made with the resurgence of Springer, Kirk, Schneider, Varsho, etc. and the improved overall results - but it's not like Popkins came in and told everyone to start pulling the ball in the air more. We're still a small ball team built on putting the ball in play - which is what EVERYONE hated the past 2-3 seasons. Maybe we're just using AI to steal signs better than most teams this year - who knows!

    I drove that bus. It still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Martinez was the hitting coach when our offense was incredible in 2021 and Donnie Baseball is still here - he was primarily blamed as the reason the offense sucked. Did Popkins just convince him that everything he believed was wrong? Is Donnie banned from talking to players now? I still suspect that a couple of years from now, people will be calling for Popkins to be fired because the offense sucks. That said - something clicked and I'm willing to give Popkins some of that credit - more than I would have last year.

    Bats just went quiet unfortunately. It happens. It was nice to see the pitching perform well.

    It's wild. Scott has always been essentially unhittable - it was walks that would get him in trouble. But this year, he's got the lowest BB% of his career, but is now serving up home runs like Hoffman. He went from <0.4 HR/9 rates in 2023 and 2024 to 1.82 this year.

    Term - you're 100% correct. Expect to see Little and Borucki a lot this series - as scary as that is, they'll be leaned on (for better or for worse). Unfortunately, I don't think warnings are going to impact the fickle crowd much.

    Can someone help me figure out Colson Montgomery? 2023 (age 21 season) in A and AA - 155 wRC+ with a 1:1 BB/K ratio (both at 19%) 2024 (age 22 season) in AAA - 81 wRC+, BB% of 12, K% of 29 2025 (age 23 season) in AAA - 78 wRC+ BB% of 8 and K% of 33 called up to the majors 123 wRC+, 17 HRs in 50 games with a .220 BABIP That is one wild ride. Obviously it seems unsustainable and it looks like he might be a bust after dominating the lower minors...

    That was an incredible season. I absolutely LOVED watching him light it up one last season and get to 700 HRs. But - that's not what I'm looking for. I want to see Springer continue to be a legit DH for another 4 years. Like a 125 wRC+ or better bat. Someone who can hit in the middle of the Jays lineup. Pujols was brutal for a lonnng time before that last deadcat bounce season we all loved.

    I find it interesting that stolen bases seem to be down this year (at least from the top end SB threats). 2024 SBs v. 2025 SBs (to date) Elly - 67 to 32 Ohtani - 59 to 17 (obviously pitching has had a major impact) Turang - 50 to 23 JRam - 41 to 36 (he's so consistent) Jizz - 40 to 26 M.Garcia - 37 to 22 Has anyone heard anything to explain this? I love SBs myself and I don't like this trend.

    I was just thinking today - how fun would it be if George Springer aged like Beltre, Cruz, Ortiz? If he stuck around with the Jays and mashed until he was 39/40 on a bunch of short term deals. Obviously it's super unlikely, but it really couldn't happy to a better guy. Speaking of Big Papi, it is crazy to see Ortiz retired at 40 after a .315/.401/.620, 163 wRC+ 38 HR 127 RBI, 4.6 WAR season...

    I'm there with you Omar. I've been defending that Varsho trade since the day it was made. CF was a glaring hole and I love the way Varsho plays the game. So happy to see him making the adjustments to unlock his offensive potential.

    Love hearing about these adjustments that France has made. The talent is in there somewhere - he was a really good hitter from 2020-2022. It reminds me of the Straw trade - everyone is baffled by the acquisition, yet all they do is contribute.
