  1. What's a violation? pre-draft verbal agreements?
  2. Atkins was saying last night that they've moved Randall back to RF because they think his defense is above average there (and that's where he'll provide the most value). They obviously don't feel that way about his D in CF (numbers support that) and thus they are going to try and find/fill the CF position in the meantime. The reads off the bat are easier in CF and we know Teo has the speed and arm. His defense has already improved significantly this year and thus I have no problem seeing what he can do in CF. Iceman - you've said a lot of dumb things in your past couple of posts, so I suspect you disagree, but whatevs
  3. What ever will we do without Chris Rowley? DSJ update - wRC+ <100, 0.1 WAR. He's a replacement level player guys.
  4. Yeah I'm super disappointed he hasn't brought the creative mentality the TB organization is known for.
  5. Braves sign Keuchel....may not need Stro now.
  6. He on earth can he be so awful defensively?
  7. Chavis April - 10 games - 177 wRC+ 15% / 25% BB/K May - 26 games - 104 wRC+ 9% / 30% BB/K June - 4 games - 37 wRC+ 5% / 47% BB/K Vlad April - 4 games - 84 wRC+ 18% / 24% BB/K May - 25 games - 112 wRC+ 9% / 18% BB/K June - 4 games - 142 wRC+ 6% / 12% BB/K some SSS's there of course, but it appears Chavis has some serious adjustments to make, while it appears Vlad has made the necessary adjustments.
  8. FFS - he better not be!
  9. Is anything NOT going the Twins way? I mean outside of Marwin Gonzalez - everything is coming up Twins. Polanco's a star Buxton's hitting Mitch Garver and Jason Castro are is suddenly Joe Mauer with power Schoop can hit again Cron's improved Sano is back from the dead and hitting Kepler's improved Cruz is Cruz Rosario is Rosario The complete opposite of the Jays? That must be fun to watch players exceed expectations.
  10. Similar profile to Mike Zunino (albeit with more speed). That made me look up Zunino and find out that in 2014 he posted a 4.2 WAR season while hitting .199 with an 87 wRC+. That's great defense!
  11. Garrett Cooper now sporting a 130 wRC+
  12. I've been tracking this all year too. It's incredible given his awful K/BB ratio. He continue to hit better than Realmuto this year.
  13. Astros just took him. They love their bat first players.
  14. and Will Holland is gone.
  15. I based this solely on size and this from the MLB.com write up on Manoah 'He's physically imposing on the mound and works in the mid-90s with heavy sink and tough plane on his fastball.' I'm happy to hear his fastball and slider are expected to be a lot better than Zeuch's. Why'd we draft Zeuch again?
  16. That's who I thought of when I read the scouting report. Big, heavy sinking fastball, good control. Zeuch's a little slimmer, listed at 6'7 225 lbs.
  17. You guys have ruined my joke of suggesting our new draft pick should be a dietitian. Jerks.
  18. If it helps. Brandon Woodruff has 0.5 WAR as a positional player over 30 PA's. He's 7th on the Brewers ahead of Braun, Arcia, Perez, Hiura, Aguilar and Shaw. Edit: I'm not sure how that 'helps' anything. Perhaps it distracts you for a few moments?
  19. Nope - never heard of the National League. Just googled it. Pretty mind blowing there Bob. I meant the term 'joint' 6th in NL. I assume joint is some sort of British term for tied?
  20. I think it's pretty clear that something in their advance analytic research suggests a market inefficiency in barrels and exit velocity stuff over contact. It might just be that if you're going to take a flyer on a marginal prospect - you're more likely to 'hit' on someone with those characteristics over someone who makes good contact (without the power profile). ie, it's easy to take someone who hits the ball hard and improve their contact, than take a contact hitter and teach them to hit with more power. I think with guys like Grichuk, Teoscar, etc. they thought if they could improve their eye/patience, they could get them swinging at more balls they can hit....and when those guys hit the ball, they hit it hard.
  21. I use the Fangraph WAR system. Solely because the BP webpage is utter dogshit. Freeland was only 4.2 WAR in that system (tied for 6th as you said - or as I think you said...wtf is 'joint 6th in NL'). I didn't think 4.2 WAR would place him 6th. I should have looked first. I'm lazy at times too. Don't judge me.
