  1. Where did anyone say it was utter nonsense that the Jays attendance figures have dropped since Shatkins took over? YOU said "A major league team can not survive on the attendance figures they are posting right now."....that IS utter nonsense. We're not even bottom 10 in the league. There is profit sharing in the league. Teams can survive on 20K per night. You may not like it - but don't make s*** up to support your narrative.
  2. That obviously seems like an option; however - let's not dismiss the fact they have a team of experts who are hired to develop a plan for physical health and development. I'm not picking on you Term, but it's incredible how quickly people with little to absolutely no idea about the topic are quick to judge and suggest alternatives. I mean sure, it would be ideal if the team took into account certain dates that you want him playing (for the casuals) - but, as has already been pointed out - this FO looks at the long term.....and - most of the best organizations in baseball - the ones that are widely considered the to be the best are utilizing this approach. Do fans want a great organization who's focused on creating a long term, competitive winner? Or one that caters to the casual fans? Just because most casual can't grasp that concept - doesn't mean you change the game plan.
  3. I wonder what's more likely to cause a batting slump. Playing everyday despite fatigue, or getting regular days off to stay fresh.
  4. Speaking from experience Rob?
  5. Any idea how they are using him offensively? Is he DH'ing a few times a week?
  6. http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Clearly there are LOTS of teams that can survive on the Jays current attendance figures. Why are people so comfortable spewing utter nonsense? Imagine being Minnesota in a brand new stadium with one of the best records in baseball (or Tampa in a s***** stadium, but with a great team). That's a tough position.
  7. wRC+ of only 39 over 90 PA's in AA. Absolutely no power (2 xbh) curious to see how this plays out.
  8. Not surprisingly - it looks like Tim Tebow may fizzle out in AAA. I wonder if they give him a token call up and at bat just to say he made it?
  9. What's up with Forrest Whitley?
  10. whooooooosh Abom - you're better than this.
  11. How is this thread only at 16 pages?
  12. Apparently Carter Stewart's going to pitch in Japan... Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Carter Stewart has signed with Fukuoka of the Japanese Pacific League. Stewart was the eighth pick of the 2018 draft, but did not sign with the Braves after concerns rose over his asymptomatic wrist issue. He filed a grievance to become a free agent, but the Braves won and Stewart elected to attend Eastern Florida State College; a two-year school that made him eligible for the 2019 draft. The stuff hasn't been as good this spring as it was last year -- Stewart was widely considered the top prep pitcher in the class -- but he still had some first-round talk. It now appears we may be seeing Stewart beginning his career in the JPL instead.
  13. I thought this was an interesting update from Rotoworld Yasmany Tomas went 5-for-5 with four homers and eight RBI on Monday for Triple-A Reno on Monday. Tomas saw four pitches on Monday, and all four of them went over the fence. He now has 13 homers on the season, and he's slashing .311/.341/.598 in 42 games. Are pitchers in AAA stupid? The guy's hit 3 hr's on 3 pitches and the first pitch in the fourth at bat is hittable? That s*** should be in the dirt or the left handed batters box...
  14. This is better than following the Jays box scores. Thanks BR
  15. I think it's hilarious how upset people are getting over this - and quick they are to jump to conclusions on why it happened.
  16. SSS, but he's been awful v. LHP. v. RHP: 152 wRC+ v. LHP: -53 wRC+ What's worse? fans not getting to see him play or fans seeing him go 0-4 v. Price? If only Drury hit lefties well (or anyone well...f*** me he sucks) Montoyo could set up a platoon!
  17. I wonder if there might be information that they know about that the fanbase doesn't.
  18. The thing with Sanchez is he was legitimately good in 2016 (ie, it wasn't like there were underlying numbers to suggest it was a fluke). The Jays would have had to known it was a complete mirage and sold him that offseason. I have a hard time blaming the FO for how this has played out.
  19. because he hates watching Javy Guerra pitch. It's as simple as that Dick.
  20. you're missing his point completely.
  21. Broxton basically IS Socrates Brito. The only difference is he had one decent half season where the BABIP god's where shining down on him.
  22. I agree with you re: Gibby 2.0 - although there's a solid chance that Gibby wasn't interested in managing a tanking team. You also continue to call all the moves a dumpster fire, even though I pointed out a number of moves that worked out very well (Woodman ended up being 1.6 WAR from A. Diaz + Trent Thornton, Grichuk trade) and we've picked up some very solid pieces when dumpster diving (Sogard, Shoemaker, Oh + other bullpen arms). I don't get it. Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true.
  23. So you want them to unload Stro and Giles - and be a .500 team next year? That seems realistic...
