  1. This is a horrible take by Tim & Friends. That's a Valle training glove (it's probably like an 8 or 9" glove) and he's doing isolated infielders work with it. This isn't scooping a ball at first either. I do the same drill with my 3 boys who are all under 11.
  2. Someone should show Kikuchi and Jansen the numbers on his cutter - because they are f***ing horrible. Perhaps he's comfortable giving up HRs?
  3. This. Please for the love of god, don't liter this board with politics.
  4. Rich Gossage is a f***ing **** - let's not develop more people like him please. Thanks. And man would we see the offense go through the roof if we went with your suggestion. It would be the steriod era all over again (and maybe that's good!)
  5. Exactly - how does one leave that out? The Braves now get Olson's age 30-35 years instead of Freeman's age 32-37 years. Then again - Freeman has a better track record.
  6. Do we think teams might target players who get 'hurt' by the shift now in anticipation that they'll be 'worth more' if/when the shift restrictions are implemented? Could Schwarber be one of those players?
  7. I feel the same - although I'd add to it by saying I'd be happy if we sign Freeman and just as happy if we don't - PROVIDED we do add another impact player (Schwarber on a short term deal, Ketel Marte, etc.)
  8. I don't see the log jam as long as Vlad is passable at 3rd. Freeman and Vlad split 1st/DH for 100 games with Espinal at 3rd with Kirk catching 60 of those games Vlad plays 3rd for 60 games, Freeman at 1st with Kirk/Springer at DH for those games. Espinal comes in late in games we're winning. That should give Kirk 90 'starts' and Springer 30 games at DH to rest.
  9. Yeah that's all fair. I don't really enjoy them as a fan myself unless it ends in the 10th, maybe the 11th - but I typically have young kids with me.
  10. Who are the Braves going to pencil in at DH now? Re-sign Solar?
  11. Dude. 148 wRC+ with zero bat speed is kind of legendary. Career 132 wRC+.
  12. Grant - would you have said the same thing about eliminating the takeout slide too? I think that was one of the best improvements made in my lifetime. I'd be interested to know why the players just hate long extra inning games. I can't imagine they find them boring. Higher risk of injury? Throws off their schedules (planes, buses, rest time, etc.)? Is it because they don't get paid more to play more (which sounds like something a union would complain about)?
  13. 8th best hitter in MLB since the start of the 2020 season. Legit beast.
  14. who the f*** is this guy? I'm getting a chub!
  15. Incredible stuff here from Ken - I was convinced that adding another player in return would make Cinny's return even shittier...
  16. what would the equivalent prospects have been for the Jays to get Winker/Suarez?
  17. Wasn't Carlos Baerga the first to break a couple of big moves? or am I mis-remembering because I find it odd that Carlos Baerga is reporting anything
  18. To be fair - this was exactly the type of deal we were discussing for the Jays - it would include one of their starters with either Suarez or Moose to cover 3rd base. We eat contract and give up a f*** ton less in the process. After getting Kikuchi, this Winker/Suarez deal would have been a near perfect fit for the Jays. Too bad!
  19. I overly love prospects, but I'm not sure I do that for 2 years of Ramirez
  20. f*** me - why aren't we taking advantage of this?
  21. I also hate seeing the face of the franchise let go due to money, but from an organizational perspective, it probably makes a f*** ton of sense - especially if they use the money they saved (from Freeman to Olson) to sign another impact FA. I could see them using that money to sign a Conforto or another arm or two, which would give them a significantly better shot at winning in 2022 and 2023 than signing Freeman would have.
  22. So we need to upgrade out 4th OFer (who on average will get 400-500 at bats per year). OK - I guess. I hate Grichuk too, but he isn't the worst option in the world. Most teams aren't running out a 3 WAR 4th OFer. I think we have higher priorities and unless we can move Grichuk, I fully expect he's our 4th OFer for 2022.
  23. This is the correct lineup construction for our current roster. The issue is he knows that Charlie is still our manager and thus Randel will start too much.
  24. That would also allow teams to turn their franchises around faster....although fair point about them keeping their payrolls down.
  25. Am I the only one who finds it odd that it's not even a point of discussion at the CBA negotiations? I mean heaven forbid we try to make the transaction component of baseball more interesting.
