  1. During last nights game they were talking on the Fan 590 about how Berrios raised his release point in his previous start, which provided much better results on his 4 seamer. I can't seem to find release point on Baseball Savant, but I know someone posted evidence that it had been decreasing over the past 3-4 years. Wondering if there's evidence he maintained the higher release point last night. Hopefully it's a step back in the right direction for him.
  2. Not that it matters at all, but I'm not so sure. Robertson - 9 2/3 innings 1.86 ERA 3.55 xFIP 11 K/9 3.7 BB/9 Bass - 9 innings 1.00 ERA 3.10 xFIP 9 K/9 3 BB/9
  3. That's exactly 4 more innings than I would have guessed.
  4. I believe every team plays every other team in the league next year. 10 game road trip to start the season blows if you ask me. IMO, you need to have opening day at home shortly after the season starts.
  5. O'Neil Cruz just hit the hardest ball in the statcast era. 122.4 MPH laser off the wall for a single (because he didn't run out of the box).
  6. Shaquem Griffin retires from the NFL. He finished his career with zero interceptions - shocking.
  7. That's fair - but then you also have to assessed based on the performance and value of Berrios at the time of the trade, which was very high. I fully expect both sides were ecstatic with this deal when it was made. High 5's all around. Minny didn't expect Martin/SWR to suck balls, nor did Toronto expect Berrios to s*** the bed. Given their history, pedigree and abilities, those were both very reasonable opinions and expectations at the time. I suspect both organizations are now asking themselves "WTF" and questioning their evaluation teams; however, the reality is that sometimes s*** happens and in baseball, there's a lot of things that are outside of the teams control.
  8. That error should be on Vlad. He needs to angle towards that throw. His front foot goes straight towards 2nd (when the throw was right of the bag) causing an awkward stretch and he just flat out misses the ball.
  9. That's an absolute joke IMO. After his very own Brady Anderson season (and a great 2020 in the shortened season), Perez is right back to being a below average bat, which generally aligns with this career #'s (career 102 wRC+). The guy has 15 career WAR as he finishes up his age 32 season. I'm not even convinced he belongs on the ballot.
  10. Yadier Molina is expected to rejoin the Cardinals on Monday. Molina was away from the club over the weekend as he needed to head back to Puerto Rico for "business reasons". Those reasons happened to be a professional basketball team that the veteran backstop owns in Puerto Rico was playing for the Baloncesto Superior Nacional championship. Yep. It has been a strange season to say the least for Molina. Did I miss the discussion on how Yadi left the team to go watch his basketball team play in Puerto Rico, while the Cards are in the middle of a playoff race? Seems bizarre.
  11. 146 wRC+ now. If he qualified, he'd be 14th in MLB, ahead of Mookie, Vlad, Ohtani, Alonso and Buxton. Insane.
  12. Yeah we only had 5 positional players > 2 WAR last year. We could/should have 8 this year. With a hot finish, we might have 6 > 3 WAR too.
  13. Took Gibby less than 24 hours! Who isn't blocked by Stro? The guy's skin is as thick as my 93 year old grandma's. A strong gust of wind and she's bleeding.
  14. This Dana White / Brady / Gronk bombshell is pretty crazy. What I can't figure out though is why was Dana White putting NFL deals together? Is it just because he's so connected with...everything?
  15. Ghost runner - brilliant idea.
  16. Yeah we really enjoyed our time in Cleveland. Like most cities, you just need to go to the right spots. East 4th Street was really cool.
  17. He's up to a 142 wRC+ on the year and a 0.9 WAR. I know he's platooning, but his wRC+ would be #1 on the Jays right now. That is f***ing insane. This is the best story in baseball this year. Will he return for one more year? You have to think the Cards will be begging him to come back for one more year.
  18. My buddies team from Ottawa represented Ontario this year in Lethbridge AB. I think they lost in the semi's and beat Quebec to finish 3rd. But I think his kid is 13 or 14. I think that's the age above the team that would actually go to Williamsport to compete as Team Canada...
  19. Because playoff teams often add a pure SB threat in September when the rosters expand and carry them in the playoffs as a specialty player. Terrace Gore has been on several playoff rosters over the past 6-8 years I believe. We could also be interested in adding him to our AAA roster as insurance for an injury to JBJ or something.
  20. In the least shocking news of the day, Marcell Ozuna was arrested early Friday morning in Norcross, Georgia for driving under the influence. Norcross police arrested Ozuna for DUI and failure to maintain lane before booking him into the Gwinnett County Jail at 4:39 AM ET. Ozuna, of course, was also arrested last year for domestic violence and served an MLB-imposed suspension. We'll undoubtedly hear more about this situation later Friday.
  21. I'm pretty sure it was down the toilet under the original 6 game suspension. If you make it to Cleveland this year - check out the Butcher and the Brewer on 4th Street East. Awesome spot. 4th Street East in general is really cool.

    NHL Thread

    Yes - that's what I read.
  23. They already had Zimmer in the form of Brett Phillips. They made him pitch and while he was entertaining, they didn't make much out of him.
  24. Paraphrasing Wayne..."I told my Dad, I only scored 9 goals this year. That used to be a good weekend for me. I think it's time to hang them up." He was 62 pts in 70 games his last year...but people forget the previous 2 years before that he had 97 and 90 points! That last year was the only year where he was less than a point per game player. Unreal.
  25. He's one of the best hitters in baseball this year v. LHP. It's really incredible and heartwarming to see. I hope the Cards do some damage in the playoffs and that Pujols provides us with some fireworks. You have to wonder if the Cards can talk him into playing 1 more year. 700 is staring him square in the face and it would be amazing to see it happen. What's another year when you're 48 anyway?
