  1. Joc Pederson accepts QO. Not surprised. Will be surprised if he comes anywhere close to his 2022 production though.
  2. Holy f*** I love me some Dan Shulman. We're so lucky to have him.
  3. I don't think he disappointed since he came up. 4.6 WAR as a 20 year old was fantastic. He had 25.2 WAR by age 25. Then it was all downhill.
  4. Lots of groundballs too if I remember correctly. So much talent though. Always seemed like one of those guys who just needed a swing change and he'd become a 130+ wRC+ monster.
  5. Cubs release Jason Heyward. One has to wonder if his career is over. So sad as he was such a talented guy who just couldn't put it all together. I still remember his rookie season when he took the league by storm as a 20 year old. He was a true 5 tool OFer then with a fantastic eye at the plate. I always assumed he'd be in the HOF one day.
  6. So you do think his framing is worth 20-25 WAR. Turns out framing is part of the game and he sucks at it. He's grossly overrated. Also - Molina threw out 5% more runners, even when you factor in decline in his later years. Sal isn't Molina defensively if you remove framing.
  7. I know that. I wouldn't want him at 3 years $60M though.
  8. Barf. Someone will regret that.
  9. Holy f*** - I'm through the first 13 on this list and it appears the only teams signing anyone are the Dodgers, Giants, Rangers, Astros, Twins, Phillies and Cubs. Sign me up for Stripling 2 yrs $18M, Conforto 1 yr $15M, Ottavino 2 yrs $15M. I'd like to say Montero at 3 yrs $24M, but I think that's a trap.
  10. It's Morosi guys - it's not even worth discussing what he says.
  11. Huh? You think the framing issues drag his defense so far down that his career 104 wRC+ bat + defense would put him in the HOF? I don't buy it. Career WAR is 15.7 as he enters his age 33 season. Framing hasn't cut like 20-25 WAR off his career numbers has it?
  12. I'm pretty surprised Tyler Anderson, Bassitt, Perez and Pederson were offered QO's. I think all 4 could certainly accept. Pederson had a dead cat bounce, but I can't imagine he's going to get anywhere close to $20M a year on the open market.
  13. To be fair - nobody was suggesting that you trade Kirk for s***. Most agreed that you'd only move him if the piece coming back is also a young player under control for many years who has a chance to be SPECIAL.
  14. Agreed - although Sal Perez is perhaps the overrated player in the league over the past 10 years. Kirk for Corbin Carroll it is then. Get it done Atkins.
  15. Yeah if Kirk is going to be a 141 wRC+ hitter then there's probably no chance we get his 'true value' in return. He's worth Corbin Carroll at that projection.
  16. Adames couldn't hit in the Trop though. Well documented. But yes, they ought to have gotten better value for him. I'm sure TB has f***ed up before and will again though. They have 40 man roster crunches too - so someone had to go.
  17. Murfee can't break 90 and Flexen blows. Espinal is a really solid utility infielder who can play anywhere. I'm not sure I give him up for that. Our bullpen doesn't have room for 'average' guys as it is.
  18. This is true. Hard to know if they did that because he was a rookie and they didn't want to wear him down (as the 162 game schedule is hard on most/all rookies) or was it because they don't think he can handle it because he's thicker than a bowl of oatmeal.
  19. Not sure this works though. If you keep Kirk and Moreno, you can't have Kirk catching 100-120 games and play Moreno as a backup (assuming we use the DH spot for Springer/Vlad/Teo/etc.). Can't have Moreno playing only 60-80 games a year (I'm assuming he'd catch 40-60 games and DH a bit). I think either way - you're planning to have 1 of our catchers occupy the DH spot on a regular basis to maximize their value to this team.
  20. Term's working hard for TOTY as he knows the yearly award voting is right around the corner.
  21. My guilty pleasure. Watching connorp on there would be better than watching Big Ed!
  22. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2471822 MLB Hall of Fame 2023 Contemporary Baseball Era Ballot Albert Belle Barry Bonds Rogers Clemens Don Mattingly Fred McGriff Dale Murphy Rafael Palmeiro Curt Schilling Will be interesting to see how this goes. Obviously Bonds, Clemens and Schilling should get in. Palmeiro is a name you never really hear about, but if we're letting in roid guys - I think he should also get the nod with 569 HRs and a career WAR of 70. I'd love to see the Crime Dog get in....he's the best of the non steriod guys. Donny Baseball was really only great for 4 seasons. He gets far too much love IMO.
  23. Can someone confirm what he even said? My ears heard "If you want the youth in the blackdown dumbass" Which obviously makes no sense.
  24. It's a completely different situation when you're going from your 'ace' facing the guy a 3rd time v. bringing in Mayza v. bringing in the best reliever in baseball over the past 3 months. Stangstag is bang on here. It's a lose-lose situation and it's unfair to rip the s*** out of the Manager like it was a given that Wheeler would have gotten him out or that Wheeler was the clear choice in that situation.
