  1. Joe Inglett served me lunch at the post spring training meet and greet with the Jays players. He was very nice. This is the same event that Rios was a massive **** to large groups of children.
  2. Yeah it hasn't been a good one at all. If memory serves correct, Lacy was always expected to go Top 4. It was Heston Kjerstad and Max Meyer who leep frogged over the consensus top 4 (Tork, Martin, Lacy and Hancock) to allow Martin to 'fall' to the Jays. I was going to suggest that Robert Hassell looks legit, but after I see that upon arriving in Washington, he was told by their analytic department to start hitting right handed and that doesn't seem to be working out so well yet. I also remember using a bottle of Jergens to vigorously moisten some skin while watching Zac Veen videos. He still has a chance to be an impact player.
  3. What would we think of Biggio, Richards and a s***** prospect for Barlow (who has 2 years of control left)? I think I'm down for that if we can bring in a vet to replace Biggio.
  4. He also has some Anthony Alford vibes - particularly when you start reading how he's going to need more time to develop.
  5. I must say I don't love high OF walls as it eliminates the ability for an OFer to "pull back a HR". That said, lowering the fence in CF helps as it creates more opportunities for this to happen. I kind of wish they lowered the fence high in LF and RF (where the distance didn't change) like they did in CF - but I can live with it. High walls create more bounces, which likely creates some excitement as well. Likely more triples.
  6. You guys are insane.
  7. A torn rotator is still typically career ending. You just don't see that injury a lot anymore because we have a much better understanding of proper mechanics (or at least mechanics that puts more pressure on the elbow - resulting in more velo and more TJS's).
  8. Unfortunately, he also sounds like Anthony Gose. Maybe he can pitch?
  9. It sure was. I was curious, so I just looked up the 1982 numbers. The Jays only used 13 pitchers that year and 5 of them posted negative WAR, while Eichhorn had almost a 1:1 K/BB ratio and a 5.45 ERA. They had 2 bullpen arms that weren't complete dog s***. Roy Lee Jackson and Dale Murphy - both who got ridden into the ground (97 and 111 innings respectfully).
  10. For good reason. I understand why fans miss starters throwing 200+ innings, winning 20 games, etc - but the reason why baseball has moved away from this is so bloody obvious. It baffles me why there's such a large % of baseball fans who can't comprehend why and get angry about it (primarily based off ignorant views as to why it's happening).
  11. I always find it crazy when I look back and see decent pitchers who had almost a 1:1 K/BB ratio. Tom Glavine was another one that stood out like that for me.
  12. Dasan Brown seemed to take a step forward this year. How close is he to the top 10? Could he eventually move George Springer to an outfield corner? Geoff Pontes: Everyone likes Dasan and he's still very young, he's probably closer to the Top 10 than people realize. It's great CF defense, in fact he might be the best minor league centerfield defender I saw in 2022. He's a top of the scale athlete and the bat finally showed life this year. Lot of positive momentum heading into next spring. If he proves he's an average major league hitter he'll be playing centerfield everyday for someone. ---------------------------------- That's really good to hear. Excited to see what Dasan can do this year. Even if he just becomes a quality 4th OFer with ++ defense and speed.
  13. bring them all in on minor league deals!
  14. I agree with this. He deserves to be up there. He was a f***ing beast.
  15. I kind of think he might go in without a cap. No idea how he'd pick between Toronto and Atlanta - knowing he will piss off the fans in the one he doesn't choose. But man - Crime Dog was a f***ing machine. I'm so f***ing happy for him.
  16. Perhaps for Pettitte and Wells, but there's no way Stieb's peak was better than Brown's (1996-2000), then you sprinkle in 1992, 1993 and 2003 on top of that and it's no contest.
  17. Fair enough. I can appreciate that, but if you're going to use 'old school' stats like W, L, K, then you probably need to include ERA, where Brown is much better (albeit that's somewhat because he pitched in the NL half his career whereas Boomer pitched primarily in the AL East). I loved watching Boomer back in the day.
  18. Sorry - but what stats are you looking at? ERA/FIP/xFIP/WAR Brown - 3.28/3.33/3.55/76.5 Wells - 4.13/3.99/4.13/58.3 It's too bad Loften didn't get a shot before he was 25. I think that really hurt him - as did his playoff performance.
  19. He lit it up in the minors last year. Good on the Rockies to give him his shot in the majors after all he's been through. Respect.
  20. Why doesn't Pettitte get more votes? 68 WAR, lot of playoff success and championships, Yankee (not that this should matter, but typically does). This is just b/c of his admission to PED use? I'm also still baffled that Kevin Brown never got voted in.
  21. 3rd - you're forgetting Pedro. Man - Pedro was f***ing amazing.
  22. Curious - is this worse than what Bauer did?
  23. You might be alone in that opinion.
  24. We'll see. We all knew Lance was a bit of a project coming out of college who would take a year or 2 to develop. I'm not suggesting he's going to fetch multiple 1st round picks, but I could certainly see teams willing to move a late 1st and a 4th for him. I guess the word "haul" is subjective. I love drafts and this coming NFL draft is going to be a fascinating one. Purdy just keeps winning - which is going to put a lot of pressure on the 49ers and the offseason decisions they make.
  25. Obviously. I loved your poems.
