  1. I don't know man - in terms of talent - this is equivalent to like the Spangler Cup. Biggest difference is there isn't many opportunities to represent your country in baseball. I know some people just love the idea of wearing the Canadian uniform and representing the country they love - but others don't. I'm not going to shame anyone who didn't bother - knowing Canada had little to no chance of winning anything - when they could otherwise be preparing for the jobs that pays the bills. I mean if you're some no-name guy from GB/China or guys like Dasan Brown (and other Canadians who aren't close to making the majors) - sure - go for it. But if you're Taillon, who just signed with a new team, I can totally see that you want to be with them - getting to know the organization/teammates and getting prepared to excel for a new team. It will be interesting to see if this decision affects Otto Lopez's ability to make the Jays.
  2. This seems to be a real issue. Has any team fired their 3rd base coach after spring training? Oh - and use another word man. Idiot works well.
  3. I am yes. I didn't say it was boring - I just said I couldn't get through the 1st inning. I thought I would enjoy it, but I didn't, especially with the Players on TV. I think GB having zero players I've ever heard of hurt it for me. Look man - you seem concerned that I didn't enjoy it. It's OK - we don't have to enjoy the same things. I really enjoyed watching the golf if you're interested.
  4. I mean you could be right, but why does playing in Japan for 1 year close the door on every playing in MLB again? Interesting that a team in Japan doesn't care about the allegations (where he was never charged), but MLB does?
  5. That's the sign of a good team.
  6. Pure dominance. He's on a major role right now.
  7. Sorry - I didn't enjoy watching Cal Quantril walk a bunch of nobody's. I actually turned it off before Canada came to the plate and went back to watching the Players. I guess if the Players wasn't on, I may have left the Canada game on - but only because the Jays spring training game wasn't on TV.
  8. Not as ridiculous as the facebook/twitter comments
  9. I agree Grant. I thought I'd be excited to watch this, but I couldn't even make it through 1 inning of the Canada/GB game. I'd rather watch the Jays spring training games.
  10. These are pretty close to what we use in U11 baseball
  11. are they using the clock at the WBC? I'll assume they are not. JaysAllMighty must love it.
  12. Why wouldn't the Blue Jays do the same thing? For me, the LOE is the Blue Jays HOF and Carter doesn't belong. Celebrate his historic HR in a more appropriate way. Leave the LOE for great players in team history.
  13. Munenori Kawasaki interviews with Barry Davis
  14. I support this. Joe doesn't really below on the LOE simply due to a historic home run.
  15. 11 pm? f***, where is the game?
  16. There's a very good chance that both things happen this year. Bernard starts the year as the 26th player with Otto in AAA - and Otto gets an extended chance to earn a role on our bench for the foreseeable future.
  17. Bernard is faster than Otto. Like 99th percentile speed.
  18. A few minor blips in the radar is certainly no reason to panic or change course. Adjustments were made in the minors last year, which provides MLB with a f***ton of information that will help accelerate the adjustments this year. I'm still not sure how anyone watches a couple of innings (without any clock violations) and thinks to themselves - this f***ing sucks, I want to see the pitcher step off, or the batter to step out more often - slow the game down! You can bitch about the growing pains, but we literally just went through this last year in another league without major issues. By this time next year - I suspect we rarely, if ever, even talk about the clock.
  19. Just like it used to be. As a traditionalist, I'm really pleased we're returning the game back to it's original state.
  20. Me too. I'm a huge Moneyball fan - watch it every time I see it on TV and the music for the Hatty HR is just incredible. This overlay with Jose's HR sends chills down my spine and makes me emotional. How can you not be romantic about baseball...

  22. I think I did this right - but his wRC+ with the Jays was 108, so personally, tarnishes most of the counting numbers. He just doesn't compare to guys like Jose and Carlos with the bat. He had a really nice run from 2003 to 2007.
  23. Is there room for Arash up there?
  24. I certainly do NOT think of Vernon Wells as being one of the best Blue Jays players ever - regardless of what the counting stats suggest. My memory is tarnished by the huge contract he signed (which is not his fault) and how poorly he played after signing it. I remember thinking AA was the greatest GM in history for being able to move him and that awful contract.
