  1. I think you could argue that focus and mental toughness are completely different then culture, attitude and goofiness. It's hard to know exactly why the physical tools don't produce results - but it happens all the time. Tyler O'Neill has similar skills to Teo and isn't getting results either. Why isn't he a 5 tool CFer? Is he a poor character guy with a s***** attitude?
  2. I'm not sure how you dismiss this - or the reality that both players had major flaws in their games as major reasons why they traded them both. Those both seem like valid options to me. For all anyone knows, it was 90% because they were becoming FA's and had holes in the game and 10% to adjust the 'culture'. The culture thing is really difficult to nail down.
  3. I love how some people on here still claim they KNOW who's a winner and who's a clown and are now patting themselves on the back based on a single statement by Bo, with zero evidence that the changes to the characters within the clubhouse will improve the results. You guys must have clubhouse passes or some insider information. Pretty strong opinions. Even a broke clock is right twice a day.
  4. If you, or anyone else on here ever needs someone to listen to them, or want to chat - message me.
  5. That's not true. Lamar is a restricted FA, so if the Jets sign him to an offer sheet, Baltimore can match it. If they don't match it, than the Jets get him, but have to give up two 1st round picks. For a guy who's missed 5 games in each of the last 2 years and isn't as good as Rodgers (albeit he's someone you'd have at QB for the foreseeable future). Oh and he wants a fully guaranteed contract and a record high deal. Or you can stick with Zach Wilson for a few more years until he goes to play in the XFL. So pick your poison.
  6. Talkin’ Baseball (@talkinbaseball_) • Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 9,897 likes, 249 comments - talkinbaseball_ on March 16, 2023: "This is very telling (via @lavidabaseball)". That's really telling. I mean in some cases, I think they are asking guys who don't play in the majors, so of course the WBC means more to them as a World Series isn't a realistic option - but lots of ML players from the DR agree.
  7. This is how negotiations go. Even if he isn't worth a 1st round pick ++, there's no major reason for GB to cave in right now. By going live and saying he wants to play in NY, it puts more pressure on NY to get it done. They're sitting there was a mega talented team that just has no QB at all to lead them. Unless Lamar is the fallback - AR is the only real option they have left. Or they could just squander the opportunity and hope Zack Wilson or some shitballer like Carson Wentz/Matt Ryan can lead them to the SB. And again - we just saw the Ram give up multiple 1sts and a 3rd for Stafford - and go on to win the Super Bowl - so the precedence has been set. I am doubtful that GB gets a 1st rounder for him - especially in the 2023 draft (maybe they get a 2024 1st rounder), but we'll see.
  8. I don't know what you're trying to say. I'm considering AR an asset? I mean another team seems to want him, so that makes him an asset. I don't really care about his Contract as it doesn't seem to be deterring the Jets. Is AR going to be the next Tom Brady and/or Drew Brees (who also was good until age 42)? Who knows - the Jets seem to want to find out. They think they're the Broncos adding Peyton Manning or the Bucs adding Brady.
  9. Because of a Yahoo article? Yikes. The Rams got two 1st round picks, a 3rd rounder and Goff for Stafford is a similar situation. Although AR is older and there's more risk he only plays 1 year for the Jets - he's arguably also better than Stafford was when he was traded to the Rams. Despite the suggestion that GB doesn't want Rodgers anymore (not sure anyone knows if this is true or not), he's a massive trade chip. There's no real downside to GB digging in their heels a bit and dragging this out (only thing is AR may get mad and just retire, or it may affect their free agency spending?). A smart franchise is going to want to get as much as they possibly can back in this situation. I'm sure they'll eventually come to an agreement that everyone can live with.
  10. I had originally thought that GB had no leverage and thus won't get s*** for AR, but a friend pointed out that with AR announcing he wants to play for the Jets - NY has a ton of pressure on them to get this done (especially after overpaying to sign Allen Lazard). If AR ends up retiring the Jets FO will look like morons and the fans will lose their s*** (for what that's worth). Their only backup plan would be Lamar Jackson, but he's no guarantee because Baltimore can match any offer. I hope it all ends today. I'm not sure if GB will reallocate that money into some big time FA's (or simply accept they are rebuilding and keep their salary cap in good shape), but if they want to, they'll need to start acting quickly. Some improvements to the O Line would be nice to give Love time/comfort to develop. Add some weapons and defense through the draft.
  11. Good. I don't listen to the Fan 590 anymore (which is better for my health anyway), but every time I do, all I hear is people talking about sports bets. It f***ing sucks.
  12. He's not wrong? They knew that it was Jim Palmer's high spin rate that made his high fastball harder to hit - one of those fastballs that just gets on you? Even if you believe that back then, they knew the reason his high fastball was effective was because it had a high spin rate (which I 100% do not believe), their measurement of the spin rate was "he has a lot of spin" - so it's night and day. Buck just hates that. He just wants us to tell pitchers how to get batters out - like they don't use the pitch movement information to develop plans on how to get batters out...
  13. And now he's telling us how he knows that Mike Trout changed his whole approach at the plate once there was a wild pitch and a runner was in scoring position. Such BS.
  14. OMG - I just had to listen to Buck tell us how spin rate isn't new. That they new Jim Palmer had a high spin rate back in the 60's and 70's because his high fastball was hard to hit. He was also babbling on about how instead of being told about how much vertical and horizontal movement you have - tell me how to get a batter out. He just CAN'T miss an opportunity to tell us about old school baseball and insinuate how much he hates the current game. I guess the target audience likes this guy? I'm just so tired of it. He is not ROE material.
  15. Isn't Aumont pitching in men's league in Ottawa? I know some boys from the Nepean Brewers and I thought they said they were facing him.
  16. at least tree fiddy pesos.
  17. Rodgers to the Jets in 3, 2, 1... I'm really curious to see what they can get for him. It's a new era in GB and I'm excited to see the rebuild. I've got a little optimistism that Love is the guy. I just clicked on a random mock draft and it suggested "The Jets give up their second- and third-round picks in 2023 and 2024 along with Elijah Moore in the Rodgers deal." Looks like the Packers could the top TE or Smith-Njigba with their own pick... WR - Watson, Doubs, Moore TE - Kincad Young, but skilled.
  18. I fully expect Varsho is going to play a lot of CF over the next 3-4 years. KK is injury prone and a short term fix, Springer is aging and should stay in RF and we don't have anyone else ready to take the reigns in CF long term.
  19. I suspect there's a backstory that hasn't (and may not) come out yet.
  20. I wasn't watching it Grant. I was just trolling on here to get a rise out of you and others. Not everyone is a patriot to this country.
  21. He might leave the dugout by the 3rd inning. He must be disgusted with all these draft dodgers who won't step up for their country.
  22. Exactly - this Country NEEDS them to play in this exhibition tournament. They bring all Canadians great shame.
  23. I'm honestly not sure if you're saying the WBC is WAY above the Spengler Cup, or the Spengler Cup is WAY above the WBC. I assume you mean the former. I think people need to accept that not everyone bleeds Red & White (I'm someone who generally doesn't). Lots of basketball players choose not to play for the Team Canada Olympic basketball team, so it should be NO surprise at all that lots choose not to play in the WBC - especially given the timing.
  24. I don't know man - in terms of talent - this is equivalent to like the Spangler Cup. Biggest difference is there isn't many opportunities to represent your country in baseball. I know some people just love the idea of wearing the Canadian uniform and representing the country they love - but others don't. I'm not going to shame anyone who didn't bother - knowing Canada had little to no chance of winning anything - when they could otherwise be preparing for the jobs that pays the bills. I mean if you're some no-name guy from GB/China or guys like Dasan Brown (and other Canadians who aren't close to making the majors) - sure - go for it. But if you're Taillon, who just signed with a new team, I can totally see that you want to be with them - getting to know the organization/teammates and getting prepared to excel for a new team. It will be interesting to see if this decision affects Otto Lopez's ability to make the Jays.
