If you could choose a new team to root for over the next 10-20 years, who would it be?

The Jays are the first team since 1901 to be victimized by a no-hitter and a 1 hitter in the first 7 games of the season. Historically bad! Start the rebuild.

Yeah - that pretty much sums it up for me too. This is a disastrous start. Everyone who hates everything about the Blue Jays can dunk all they want (hope it makes you feel really good). The Jays are unwatchable and this board is unreadable. This Vlad/Bo era has been super disappointing. I do love a good rebuild though. Bring it on.

We've been through this about 75 times already. This offense was 7th in MLB last year in wRC+ (higher than Philly, Baltimore), even while we had pretty bad years from Vlad, Kirk, Varsho and Springer. Did we struggle to score runs last year? Yes. Is that a statistical anomaly? It may have been. Our BA with RISP started out awful last year - just dreadful luck, but it did turn around in the 2nd half and we ended up near the middle of the pack. Even if nothing really changes from last year, we probably should land between the 7th and 12th best offense in baseball (argue that's not enough all you want). People can suggest nothing has changed except a downgrade at 3rd, but player development and year to year improvement is a thing. Whether you call it a bounce back or just development, it's not unrealistic to expect Vlad, Kirk, Biggio, Varsho, etc. to simply be better than last year. We also have a full season with Davis Schneider and have other internal options at AAA that may be able to help our offense (Barger, Horwitz, Orelvis, etc.). Of course it would be great to see our baserunning improve from last year. Minor changes in philosophy could play a bit part in that. If our starters play to their potential, this is probably a Top 5-8 offense. Is it a bit of a thin line? Yeah, for sure it is. But, for a team built on pitching and defense, that should be more than sufficient to have success.

Bills move Diggs for the #60 pick (2nd round). I think he's declining, but this is a bold move for the Bills.

It's incredible how some of you can't just enjoy a huge Blue Jays win. You're just constantly upset over something or someone. It's unreal.

Pitchers work on different pitches throughout spring training. If he's been working hard to develop that pitch, it would make sense that he's throwing it more in spring training to gauge the results. Of course this is all premised on a statement the Jays weren't prepared for his changeup and someone should be fired and that claim was based on "watching the Jays hitters" - which is stupid. For all we know, the Jays staff may have known all alone that Blanco's changeup was much improved and that the Jays should expect him to throw it a lot more than last year. Even knowing that doesn't guarantee results.

OK, but that would have nothing to do with the Jays knowing about his changeup and someone getting fired because they weren't prepared for it - so it's a moot point. You don't think the players and coaches weren't talking in the dugout about how good his changeup was last night and talking about how he's throwing it way more than he ever has in the past? I mean you can guess that they must not have been based on the results, but doesn't that just sound stupid? You don't think after about the 3rd inning that guys in the dugout would be talking about his pitch mix and what they saw at the plate? I think it's safe to say those conversations happen in every single game they play - or I'd be shocked if they didn't. People honestly believe that nobody in that dugout was talking about his changeup and it's usage last night? You think the coaches were preaching "stick to the original game plan - don't change a f***ing thing!" Should teams ALWAYS be able to make in-game adjustments and start hitting better? I mean obviously that isn't realistic, or nobody would ever throw a perfect game, no-hitter or even give you 7 innings with 0 ER. There were 4 OTHER shutouts around the league last night. Why didn't those teams make in-game adjustments? Obviously the answer is that even if you're trying to make in-game adjustments, it doesn't always work.

You're claiming the Jays had no idea Blanco threw a changeup and suggesting someone should be fired because of their lack of preparation. Your source for this opinion is "watch the hitters, you can tell". I mean - that logic just doesn't fly man. Now if you want to argue the Jays weren't prepared for just how good the changeup was and weren't ready for him to throw it 36% of the time - fine, make that argument. I'm not 100% sure how you think the Jays ought to have known he'd be throwing it that often - or that it would be so much more effective than it was last year (if it even was). He only threw it 10% last year and this was his first start of 2024. Should they have secret agents spying on the Astros, bugging their strategy meetings where they talk about their approach that game? For tonight's game - do you think the Jays should be super prepared for Valdez's cutter? I mean he threw it 3.5% of the time last year, but they better be prepared because he might throw it 30% of the time tonight and mow down the Jays with it!
