  1. Zulueta, Cooke, Danner, Juenger, Pardinho, Fluharty, Jimmy Burnette, Adrian Hernandez - there have been a number of interesting arms work there way through the system with a lot of success and promise, only to hit AAA and then completely s*** the bed. One thing that seems consistent is their walks skyrocket (automated strike zone having an impact?). Cooke went from about a 2.5 BB/9 rate to 7+ in AAA. Trenton Wallace had a similar jump last year too. Even Bloss had a 6.91 ERA in 8 starts last year at AAA, Chad Dallas - also destroyed as a starter in AAA. The only RP prospects who've had success at the ML level from our system all had it on new teams. Bryan Baker and Payamps.
  2. How can it be volatile when they ALL die? That's consistently, not volatility.
  3. Bad coaching of course. It's actually been pretty impressive how the pitching coaches in AAA can ruin absolutely everyone who comes through there. You'd think they'd f*ck up at least once and let a good pitcher though. But no - they must all DIE.
  4. I don't disagree, but they haven't been "developing 3 new pitchers every year". But yes - Jays suck, FO sucks, Country sucks. Everything sucks around here. Waves of talent, hardy har har.
  5. I love AA and I love the Braves, but let's be honest - they have have several failed pitching prospects over the past 3-4 years. Ian Anderson, Yuascar Ynoa, Tucker Davidson, Touki Toussaint, Kyle Wright, AJ Smith-Shawver (he still has time to turn it around). They have very little pitching depth right now and the rotation scraped through last year with smoke and mirrors. It only had 2 home grown players in it (unless you want to include Elder and his 6.50 ERA) and one of those is now gone. The 2024 Braves are eerily similar to the 2023 Blue Jays. One of the very best offenses in baseball completely dropped off the table and they squeaked into the playoffs (thank god Ozuna beasted for them). Lots of injuries obviously, but just a bizarre fall off by Acuna, Harris, Riley, Olson, Albies, Murphy, etc. That said - the core is all signed and most are good candidates to rebound, but I'm worried they need more depth on that rotation, especially with Fried gone.
  6. Not much turnout for the circle jerk this year...
  7. I thought he was projected to get like $12M-$14M on a 1 year deal. We can't afford him if that's true (unfortunately).
  8. Can't an option be for there to be a dedicated thread that is in the "Toronto Blue Jays Talk" subform - instead of separate threads for each rumour? In the past, rumours would just go under the "Offseason Roster Thread" or "General Blue Jays Discussion". Could either go there, or have it's own "Blue Jays Rumours" thread? I don't think anyone wants it in some other subforum (voting to date confirms this). The old board was built on massive, long threads. I don't love having lots of small, random threads, but I guess if that's preferred or "better" then that's the way it will be.
  9. Brutal day for them. Now a tough matchup v. the Eagles. Probably the end of the road on what's been a fun season. Youngest team in the league though. Bright future still.
  10. Sorry - I used to play a ton of fantasy sports. It's not my thing anymore.
  11. True. My though was that in general, all the fantasy/betting threads could all go together. I'm not even sure where all your other ongoing fantasy threads ended up in the move...
  12. Great - but people asked about the Around Baseball and MiLB/Prospects threads to be moved into this subthreads for the same reason and were told no - that people wanted more organization and such. To be clear - none of it matters to me. I'll stop asking questions I guess.
  13. Man - we're just all trying to figure out the new board. Don't be a c*unt. People asked for "Around Baseball" to be in this subthread and were told no. Consistency seems like a fair request.
  14. If we're trying to compete this year, we need a closer, not a guy who's going to "try" to convert to a starter. If we're not trying to compete, then give Hoffman the 5th spot - if it works out, there could be good value available.
  15. Can you please consolidate your below average jokes into a single post? You look like Olerud. Has Olerud made it to the new board yet?
  16. While we're talking board setup - can we move all the fantasy sports talk to it's own area? I don't think it belongs in the main "Toronto Blue Jays Talk" section. Just a thought. You could have fantasy and betting on its own.
  17. I seem to recall several "new threads" being merged and moved into other existing threads where they belonged to avoid clutter. This is just a lot different than the other board. If this is what people want then whatever, but nobody should be surprised that people are speaking up and questioning this new approach.
  18. It was already posted in the former Jays thread - where it belongs
  19. I certainly do not want new threads every time some mindless rumour is posted by someone looking for clicks.
  20. The incentive is him getting paid... Legit reporters stretch the truth all the time now. Look at Morosi. Almost nothing he reports is true or accurate. It's all about headlines and clicks now.
  21. Just another aimless report from some nobody who needs to create content to get paid. People use this stuff to create rage. We can probably just conclude the Jays are interested in every remaining FA (except Jay Jackson). I would hope Atkins (and any GM out there who's looking to compete) is interested and checking in on all the remaining important FAs. That's kind of their job. At this point, it just seems so far fetched for the Jays to just start landing multiple big name guys.

Cool little video about improvements Trent Thornton made. I hope most our fringe RPers spent the off-season in a lab...
  23. Hard to comment without knowing how much communication there has been already, but I generally agree with you. Perhaps they were "close" enough to give Atkins confidence that they were going to get something done - and then Soto changed the market? Or perhaps Atkins just got bit in the ass - believing Vlad was just posturing - asking for a lot, whereas the Jays believed it was just a "shoot for the stars" request, only for Soto to change the market and now they are f***ed. One thing to consider is the Jays can't force Vlad to discuss or resolve this. They can ask, but if he doesn't get serious about discussing it, they can't get anywhere. Again, perhaps they should have s*** or gotten off the pot earlier - concluding Vlad wouldn't ever get serious with them, or perhaps he's been stringing them along (playing them one might say), suggesting he'd be willing to have serious negotiations this offseason. Who knows.
