  1. You can't just add WAR's like that, one player taking up one roster spot is far more valuable than two inferior players taking up two roster spots even if they theoretically produce the same war. And i'm not at all convinced that those two will out WAR EE
  2. Man, i haven't been following the market since the end of the season at all and haven't kept up with the signings and trades. This is so crazy, i was expecting him to be a lock for 5 years 100 million, what the hell happened? Can someone summarize what changed in the last couple of months?
  3. You're just making s*** up out of thin air. Liriano is a launching pad and walks a ton of guys, that's the textbook definition of how bad innings are built. Stroman only gets into trouble when too many groundballs sneak through the infield in a succession but he doesn't walk anyone and doesn't give up many HR's, he's much more likely to avoid a really bad inning.
  4. Pitchers don't "win" games, teams do. Stroman has been fantastic in the 2nd half of the season.
  5. The moneyline for tomorrows game right now is Jays -148. that translates to a ~61% probability. I expected it to be a bit higher but i'm guessing the bookies are penalizing us for the mediocre bullpen
  6. Its crazy how underrated Stroman is on this forum. I'd want him to start the wildcard game even if it didn't come down to between just him and Liriano, over Sanchez, Estrada and Happ.
  7. Freeman 2 run shot, 2-1 Atlanta!!!
  8. This is great news, Benoit scares the crap out of me everytime he takes the mound. I don't give a s*** if he had "success" in a dozen or so innings, i don't trust him one bit.
  9. Its no guarantee that he'll continue to be a "really good closer" with a 30% GB rate. He has to get better as a pitcher and that requires seasoning in the minors and innings under his belt.
  10. I'm not sure about "great", this is the golden age of relievers in baseball. Biagini has to show whether he can really sustain that abnormally low HR/FB% in the long term. Osuna has the same problem and he's an extreme fly baller, i have my doubts about whether he's really "managing contact" or just getting lucky. Its very worrying that he hasn't developed as a pitcher at all in the past year, no one seems to care but they should because its a red flag for a 21 year old. The right thing to do with Osuna would be start him in the minors next year in preparation for him to start, and work on his changeup and more importantly completely revamp the usage of his fastball. He's gotta make his cutter and 2 seamer a bigger part of his arsenal because right now the 4 seam fastball/slider combination is barely good enough in relief, and it won't get it done as a starter.
  11. As for Bautista, i think people are severely underestimating how much respect he'll get from the market. The pick attached to him won't be an issue at all. There isn't a clear indication of sudden decline. He's still hitting the ball hard(actually slightly higher exit velocity this year) and his plate discipline numbers look great. I would be surprised if he doesn't get atleast 3 years 60 million, and with the mediocre talent that's out there in FA, it will probably be more than that, maybe even a 4th year. I also think his personal reputation will help a ton, he's known around the league for being a perfectionist when it comes to his swing and the way he prepares, there are very few players who command the type of respect he does, even from guys who don't like personality.
  12. Pablo Sandoval? Ofcourse Sandoval's age was a big plus for him. I think Tulo would almost certainly have gotten 4 years 80 million if he was a FA, that's the floor, and it could be more depending on other factors.
  13. but the K's have gone way up too.
  14. I'll take the under, MJ had a pretty decent eye at the plate even though he couldn't make hard contact. I haven't seen any evidence that suggests Tebow has anything resembling skill in baseball. MJ was also an extraordinary athlete, Tebow isn't.
  15. That cutter to Miller was nasty
  16. I'm expecting Stroman to annihilate the Ray's
  17. Cobb only hitting 91-92, he averaged 94.2 in 2014
  18. Cobb is serving up meatballs, Saunders got a good one on 1-1
  19. Yeah the money doesn't matter but that's an F grade right there, Smoak is useless and has always been useless, that's a completely unjustifiable signing.
  20. Chris Davis had a worse track record than Edwin did and he got 7 years 170, that's 24.3 million AAV. Edwin is 3 years older but he should be able to get 5 years at that AAV, i'm thinking 5 years 110 is the absolute floor.
  21. Tellez's MLB projection(87 wRC+) as a 21 year is pretty close to Smoak's(91 wRC+) going forward, pretty incredible.
  22. This "news" is useful to no one though and even if there was some meat to the story Tebow is irrelevant
  23. You can only make comparisons based on how players have done at similar levels. Statistically Tellez has done as well as almost any current/historical good 1B/DH have done at the same level. Obviously that doesn't mean he'll be a successful big leaguer but the same level comparisons to Rizzo, Votto, Adrian Gonzalez are valid, as are comparisons to guys like Singleton, Snider(not that he's a complete failure).
