  1. I don't know, his post playing career personality is so bland that i wouldn't be surprised if his publicists and PR people invented it, its off putting, kind of like Lebron James.
  2. You're conflating between tech bro culture and what people who work in IT, even programmers, actually do everyday in their jobs. So you don't much about the history of Computer Science nor about what the profession is today. BTW, many (probably most) white collar office jobs involve sitting in front of a computer all day, most of the women who work in those profession seem to be happy with their jobs.
  3. Before Jobs, Gates, Wozniak etc made Tech Nerd Culture cool in the 80's, Computer Science for decades was a field dominated by women. Ofcourse, just empty rage being masqueraded as an intellectual philosophy is more entertaining than real historical analysis though.
  4. I love Fernando Rodney because no matter how much change Baseball is going through every year, he's a constant, he just does what he does, both in a good and a bad way.
  5. no i was using Private Internet Access. Just an FYI for everyone, using PVA with MLB.tv doesn't seem to work,, pretty much every game was being blacked out. I was using my regular non VPN network from Canada and pretty much everything works fine except for the national TV games in the US.
  6. What region are you running your VPN from? I've tried US, Canada, and Germany but i either get blackout errors or you're not alllowed to view this content
  7. Got it, thank you, i didn't realize they were int eh comment section of the deal itself.
  8. Can i buy one off of you, i'll give you a bit more than what you paid for it
  9. hey, what was that subreddit were people were selling their accounts for $5 to $10?
  10. Don't see why you can't combine a hard floor with a soft cap. MLB pretty much has a soft cap already with the tax threshold. From a player(and many owners) you gotta go after the taker teams first like Pittsburgh, Miami, Tampa Bay etc, you can't be incentivized to spend little, don't bother with trying to grow your business but then end up making money through revenue sharing. That's something both the owners and players should be able to agree with.
  11. The MLBPA is such a joke these days, its sad how far they've fallen. The fact that a guy like Neil Walker is being offered a minor league should be reason enough for a mild step like a spring training boycott, you don't even have to look at the dozens of other cases which suggest the C word, and these idiots couldn't even agree on that.
  12. There's no way the numbers add up like that. Its hard for us to admit becuase its so alien to us but Ohtani genuinely didn't seem to care all that much about money.
  13. If he's just relegated to pinch hitting duties, his career as a hitter will be severely damaged. Its hard to hold on to your skills, let alone develop them if you're getting so few reps. Even if he turns out to be a decent bench bat, it doesn't provide with all that much value, he just saves you a roster spot. Overall, such a waste of a unique talent.
  14. Really? I've always thought Siddall is worse than Zaun
  15. They don't even have a timetable for his spring training debut, ofcourse it sounds like he won't be ready for opening day.
  16. I don't understand where "personal responsibility" even comes up when trying to help assets(prospects) of a team achieve better results. Its irrelevant if these kids don't care or don't want to care about things like nutrition, its still upto to the team to educate them and try to help them, its simple economics.
  17. Give the kid a break and get him away from Baseball for a while
  18. Danny Jansen is the type of player that goes unnoticed in the minors and then everyone's shocked that he turns into a good MLB regular.
  19. Smith put up two very mediocre years in AA. There's no reason to believe this is anything other than a hot start, he shouldn't even be in the conversation for a callup
  20. i can do it, check your pm
  21. why was the original post taken out? Did it violate the rules or something? I thought it was pretty helpful.
  22. I remember Domonic Brown being the most desirable piece, the Phillies made him untouchable. The truth is this hindsight analysis is even more pointless than usual. Halladay had a no trade and he was gonna go public with his trade demands if the Jays waited any longer and Anthopolous was forced to take what what he could get.
  23. Duquette is hardly alone with views like that, they're extremely common across the league among fans, executives and even players. Any non-white player in Baseball with even a hint of a personality is a diva by default.
  24. EE was a salary dump at the time. With the benefit of hindsight, the Reds(and the Blue Jays later when they DFA'd him) did give up on him too early given his power potential, he did hit 26 homeruns in 2008. This was right around the start of the pitching and defence era which made power the most premium commodity on the market
  25. I think that's far less important to players in baseball than other sports. Its very hard to predict the strength of teams more than a year into the future, and even that is very unreliable.
