  1. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2019-mlb-international-signing-preview/ Five names now
  2. Idk, will Scott Boras take that if Sanchez is somewhat healthy next year?
  3. Good game boys Free Bichette now
  4. Give me Luis Patino + Ryan Weathers minimum if we’re eating that contract + Stroman Adrian Morejon has upside and is young or maybe even consider throwing in Xavier Edwards Realistically though, the Padres aren’t competitive enough. They won’t give up those types of assets for merely a chance at 2nd wildcard
  5. I certainly hope he bounces back and is at least deserving of a QO at age 28. It’s a possibility he’s not even worth it at that time, which would be worst case scenario.
  6. Martinez is also the second youngest on the team, 1 month older than recently promoted C Javier D’Orazio which crushed the DSL
  7. Time stamps: 1:54 Lourdes Gurriel Jr’s breakout and projections for the season 16:17 Trade market speculations and how will the Blue Jays make room for Bo Bichette? 23:14 Realistic trade targets for Stroman? Is he going to the Yankees? Twins? 27:03 Who has more trade value: Stroman or Giles? 28:55 Josh Winckowski’s promotion and MLB comp 31:53 MLB comp for Alejandro Kirk 33:21 Stroman vs Eckersley 37:12 Trevor Bauer vs the World 46:19 Is Danny Jansen heating up? How much does offense matter for a catcher? Future batting order? 53:39 Lightning round: Kawhi Leonard, does he stay or does he go? 54:55 Bonus: Who do they get to compliment Kawhi Leonard?
  8. Comment on lightning round: Raptors absolutely need more 3 point shooting and a backup plan if their aging big men completely fall off a cliff. I don't have names without studying the FA list but it's a very real issue if they want to take it to the next level (assuming Kawhi stays). Danny Green to Mavs also a real possibility, that’s a lot of quality 3pt shots gone if it happens. It might have to come via trade and not free agency. Their only option is MLE and vet min contracts which doesn't give them a ton to choose from and we're way over the cap and hitting luxury tax threshold payroll.
  9. Lmao @ John's comment "much higher quality of s***" edit: I totally lost it after the 10 min rant about Trevor Bauer vs Keith Law and then finishes the segment with "This podcast brought to you by ESPN insider and The Athletic"
  10. I agree with John and Alan, 130+ wRC+ and 25+ HR for LGJ If he just hit slightly above average and stays healthy he could end up 120 wRC+ and 20 homers at this point, I'm optimistic he can ride this a bit longer and it's not a complete fluke. The low BB rates are still concerning, but his other statcast numbers are very encouraging. He's top 3% in WOBA .418, top 7% in SLG% with 45.9 HH% and 13.1% barrels. Exit velo, launch angle, everything is solid except walks. But I expect his crazy production vs breaking/offspeed pitches to come back down to earth a bit. I don't think he can sustain wOBA .360-390+ type numbers on pitches like sliders and changeups just because that's very unusual for a guy that isn't known to work counts (and very few MLB hitters can sustain those type of numbers). He is chasing a bit less though, and walking a tick more than last year which is a good trend.
  11. He will have zero value regardless what happens this year. No contender in their right mind would give up assets for Sanchez, both health and performance reasons. It's looking either like a 2020 July trade or a comp pick at this point. If that would be the best case scenario, good riddance.
  12. Napkin math says we have @ 694K left to sign Philip Clarke, slot value @155. **incurring overdraft penalties** I think we can sign him if he’s only expecting reasonable 4-6th round money, which was projected pre-draft based on BA 500 ranking. Will Robertson signed for 422.5K And Tanner Morris signed for 400K Which is about where Clarke would be valued.
  13. Okay guys, I am here to officially declare Otto Lopez is not only back in action (after missing time on IL), but he’s currently on a 28 game on-base streak that includes 38 hits and 11 walks that goes all the way back to May 5th. Unlike his fellow teammates Contreras and Abbadessa who ended up a bit too raw offensively despite the athleticism and got sent to Vancouver, Lopez has actually hit very well and carried over his offensive performance from the lower levels. Not counting today’s game (Too late to update my SS), during the on-base streak he’s hitting .352/.414/.457, OPS .871 and 154 wRC+ since May 5. His seasonal wRC+ is now 131 and still 20 yrs old and playing mostly middle infield. I think we have something here. Also Jordan Groshans might be coming back sometime in July.
  14. Astros have wanted Stroman in the past, and Yankees definitely would want him. So the rumour isn’t exactly out of left field, but a bidding war between the two is difficult to see. There are other teams that wouldn’t mind having a good starter, it only takes two parties. I’ll bite just for fun, in this case specifically, both farm systems have a crap ton of young assets or prospects to pluck from. You’d have to raise the price tag to NY just because there’s a very real risk that Stroman would re-sign and pitch against us for long term. If you can get like a Jonathan Loaisiga + Deivi Garcia from the Yankees, that would be a haul. Or substitute one for Luis Gil + Albert Abreu or something. Frazier would be fine if he isn’t the only asset coming back, but with Gurriel looking great and Grichuk locked up, one of them has to play CF which makes guys like Teoscar, Alford, and McKinney almost obsolete. I’m not the highest guy on Frazier though, but there’s potential there. Astros are a bit tricky. The guys you want are untouchable (Whitley, Tucker, Alvarez), their good crop of pitchers coming up seem to be struggling a bit, or moved into the Astros bullpen. Names like Corbin Martin, J.B. Bukauskas, Josh James, Cionel Perez, Framber Valdez, Bryan Abreu, etc. I’m not completely sold on Corbin Martin despite the higher ranking and might lean on Bukauskas just cuz his stuff is so nasty even though his minor league sample isn’t huge. They’d have to add more for Stroman, but I don’t think they’d want him enough to do that.
  15. I’ll take a start like that from SRF any day. Just hope it continues
  16. Remember half of those don’t count because they’re hanging breaking balls.
  17. It’s only the first inning and Buck is already wasted

  19. Nate Pearson got a bump on MLB Pipeline, Fastball grade now 75. Fangraphs has him 70 current, 80 future grade.
  20. He’s 115 wRC+ and .810 OPS batting 2nd. If that’s seeing Vlad at his worst he’s in pretty good shape.
  21. For sure, those greyhounds are not comfortable.
  22. Paid subscription required for BEVR+ with league and park value adjustments
  23. I think projection models that uses weighted averages of Biggio’s past few years in the minors (like ZiPS) are going to come out more pessimistic. He’s been a bit of a late bloomer that really broke out last year after making adjustments to swing mechanics. He is the type of guy with potential to give you a 100 walks, 20-25 homers, and steal 10-15 bags while batting left-handed and playing two or three positions. That’s a valuable player.
