    6789 not looking so bad, Navarro Saunders Smoak Pompey. Looks better than any combination of tolleson, rasmus, kawasaki, gose, pillar, mayberry jr, goins. I do think Pompey will have a better chance at being useful @ 9th than Gose last season

    Yes we probably have enough payroll to pay a guy $20mill~ Still not sure if either Lester or shields deserve the type of contract they're asking for. Scherzer's probably outside our reach. Too bad we missed the David Price sweepstakes at the deadline and he's still in contract. He would be my first choice if we could pay that kind of money for a pitcher for 5+ years

    I was thinking about it in the morning. Do you really want a high OBP low-mid power guy like martin (or even a melky) batting behind Edwin? First world problems, but it just feels kinda weird

    You're underestimating him. Pompey will cover the entire outfield by himself. Joey will hover around 2B incase whoever plays there needs instructions This man speaks the truth. But yes you can do worse than that. Imagine having Josh Thole at the plate every 5th day... Oh wait.

    That makes sense. I just felt EE's been batting pretty well behind Joey and not to mess with it. I'm still hoping one more move happens. The bottom of the order doesn't look too optimistic, but I think Pompey can surprise this season. Not expecting too many things from Pillar until I see it actually happen. But I thought you generally want to keep your power guys 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the lineup?

    Guess Gibby decided to live or die by Casey Jansen. I also thought Pompey pinch running instead of stroman might've been smarter, especially in the game where melky suffered season ending injury diving for a base.

    Everyone's talking like the jays are World Series contenders and have managed their payroll so intelligently that we're afraid of getting fleeced by melky by paying him 16/yr. Guys, there arnt too many options out there in the market, who else can you get for that price that will be an improvement over melky? For a team paying Half of oakland's payroll on Reyes and MB alone, and constantly pay $10mill+ on pitchers that are riding the pine, why are people talking like we're too good to pay melky? Stop debating, you only need three words to this question: Bring him home.
